No. 43 Team Eager to See Improvement in Intermediate Program at Atlanta

In the off-season, Richard Petty Motorsports took on the responsibility to hang their own bodies. This weekend, the No. 43 Fresh From Florida team will bring a brand new body to their first intermediate race of the season. The team is eager to use this race as a benchmark for their new body program.

Aric Almirola and team will have the opportunity to test out the car on Thursday during a test session at Atlanta Motor Speedway before the regular race weekend begins on Friday. Almirola has just four starts at the 1.5-mile speedway. He scored his first Top-10 at the track last year with a ninth-place finish. He also has six total starts in the NASCAR XFINITY and Truck Series where he scored three Top-10s and two Top-Five finishes.

This weekend, the Fresh From Florida campaign will makes its debut on the famed No. 43. The campaign, led by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, is focused on building awareness and sales of fresh seafood, produce and other Florida products.

“The cool thing about going to Atlanta is that you learn really fast where you stack up to the competition. When we get to Atlanta, you’ll see who has the advantage. Everything comes out. You will see the guys that spent their time over the winter making their racecars better and faster, finding more downforce, finding more horsepower with the rules change. We’ve been working really hard to make our racecars better and Atlanta will be our chance to see where we stack up.

“Atlanta is very temperature sensitive. In previous years, in the heat of the day we run slower than at night. I can’t imagine how fast it is going to be when we get there this week. It’s going to be fast and will have a lot of grip. I’m happy that we are going back to Atlanta at the beginning of the season like we used to.”
