Biffle Earns Top-10 Finish in Sherwin Williams Ford at Phoenix

Things heated up in the desert as the 2014 season winded down.  Biffle survived a caution filled 312-laps at Phoenix International Raceway to earn a ninth-place finish in his No. 16 Sherwin Williams Ford Fusion.  Biffle started 28th, but with some pit strategy found himself inside the top 10 in the closing laps.  The top-10 finish moved Biffle up to 12thin the Championship standings heading into the season finale next weekend.

The No. 16 team battled in practice trying to find the right setup on their Ford and when it came time to qualify Biffle got too loose, resulting in a 28th-place starting position.  The handling woes continued into the race, but chassis adjustments helped Biffle find grip.

The closing laps brought out multiple cautions, resulting in different pit strategies.  Biffle opted to remain on the track, while some others pitted for either four or two tires.  Fresh tires were an advantage, but track position was also crucial.  Biffle restarted as high as fifth before settling into ninth as the checkered flag waved.
