This weekend Roush Fenway Racing driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and crew chief Mike Kelley return to the site where they first teamed up four seasons ago. Kelley took over the reins of the No. 6 team at Texas Motor Speedway in April of 2010. Since their initial pairing, the duo has accumulated one win, two top-five and four top-10 finishes in only six starts at the Great American Speedway.
With the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Rookie of the Year reunited with the crew chief that helped lead him to back-to-back Nationwide championships, they look to continue their success this Sunday in the Duck Commander 500 Sprint Cup race.
“I will always look forward to racing at Texas,” Stenhouse said. “Mike (Kelley) and I had a lot of success here in the Nationwide Series, but I learned last year that just because you had success in the Nationwide Series at a particular track does not mean you are necessarily going to be a strong contender at the Cup level.
“The good thing is Kelley knows what I am looking for in our Ford,” added Stenhouse. “I think we should be able to have a strong showing this weekend at Texas.”
