Hill and FAS Lane Racing Tough It Out in Darlington

Darlington Raceway is called “The Track Too Tough to Tame” for a good reason. NASCAR Sprint Cup Series rookie driver Timmy Hill and his OXYwater team found out firsthand on Saturday night as they battled the infamous “Lady in Black”. Together the young driver and team persevered and brought their No. 32 OXYwater Ford home to a 33rd place finish in the running of the Bojangles’ Southern 500.

“We just battled the handling on our OXYwater Ford there early in the race and that just set us back,” stated Hill. “Then we used up our brakes a little too much and lost the pedal there for about 100 laps or so. Once we got the brakes back and made a few chassis adjustments we were pretty solid there in the last third of the race. Again, this was a great learning experience for me and one that I will be able to utilize as we progress through the remainder of the season.”

Hill will be back behind the wheel of the No. 32 OXYwater Ford for the next two weeks of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events at Charlotte Motor Speedway which is highlighted by the Coca-Cola 600 on Memorial Day weekend.

“Everyone on this OXYwater team really battled hard tonight,” said FAS Lane Racing team owner Frank Stoddard. “Timmy did a great job in keeping the car clean all race long and there at the end we were very competitive. We still need to work on getting to that competitive part earlier in the weekend and race. I think it will make a big difference when we get to take Timmy to some of these tracks for the second time and we saw that earlier this year at Kansas. Collectively, we all continue to grow together and seem to be going in the right direction.”
