NASCAR Champion Jimmie Johnson Chooses Octagon for Exclusive Marketing Representation

Global sports and entertainment leader Octagon today announced an exclusive partnership with five-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson. Octagon will work with Johnson and his team to spearhead his marketing and brand-building initiatives through endorsements and other commercial opportunities.

“Jimmie’s values, image and business philosophy are very consistent with ours, which makes him an ideal fit at Octagon,” said President and Founder Phil de Picciotto. “He is one of the most recognizable athletes in the world, and his commitment to sustained excellence over the long term is second to none. We look forward to working with Jimmie and his team to commercialize his brand.”

“Octagon has a great reputation and proven track record of helping athletes increase their profile through endorsements and other marketing initiatives,” said Johnson. “Phil and his team have a tremendous amount of experience in our sport. I’m looking forward to working with them and am confident they will be a great asset.”

Johnson has dominated the NASCAR scene for the past decade after he became the sport’s first ever driver to earn five consecutive Sprint Cup championships (2006-2010). A four-time recipient of the National Motorsports Press Association’s Richard Petty Driver of the Year award, Johnson was also recognized as the AP Male Athlete of the Year in 2009. A native of El Cajon, Calif., Johnson has 55 career Sprint Cup victories and is in his 11th fulltime season driving the No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet fielded by Hendrick Motorsports.

Off the racetrack, Johnson and his wife, Chandra, are actively involved in philanthropy through the Jimmie Johnson Foundation. Since 2006, the foundation has donated more than $5 million to various organizations dedicated to helping children, families and communities in need. The foundation currently focuses on K-12 public education, primarily through the Jimmie Johnson Foundation/Lowe’s Toolbox for Education Champions Grants program. Champions Grants have been awarded to 44 schools located in California, Oklahoma and North Carolina. (The Johnsons grew up in California and Oklahoma, and now reside in North Carolina.). Other current and past partner programs include the Hendrick Marrow Program, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte (N.C.), San Diego Habitat for Humanity and Victory Junction Gang Camp.

Octagon has a rich and proud history in the sport of NASCAR. The agency’s Charlotte, N.C., office of nearly 100 employees is responsible for managing tens of millions of dollars in NASCAR sponsorships, media and activation annually for a variety of brands.
