Germain Racing has a new look for 2011. The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champions are kicking off the year with a sponsorship from Tire Kingdom on the No. 30 Tundra and this season will be the first in two years that sees the 30 Tundra have a full-time teammate again. In fact, Bodine will be flanked by three teammates—Max Papis in the No. 9 GEICO Tundra, Brendan Gaughan, No. 62 South Point Hotel & Casino Tundra and Justin Lofton, No. 77 Lofton Cattle Tundra. Germain Racing’s three full-time additions to the Truck Series have played into the recipe for what could be the most competitive season in history, according to the reigning champ who is attempting to race in all three events at Daytona International Speedway this weekend.

“I’m excited about the truck series and for the series because we’ve got a lot of new teams coming in with really good drivers.  I feel like this is probably going to be the most competitive year in the Truck Series ever,” explained Bodine, who is racing at Daytona International Speedway for Tire Kingdom in the No. 30 Tire Kingdom Tundra on Friday night, in the No. 15 Tire Kingdom Camry on Saturday and on Sunday in the No. 60 Tire Kindom Camry.

Bodine says the reason 2011 should go down in history as the best season ever is that the Truck Series fields are brimming full of competitive racing teams and drivers and it’s why the fans keep coming back to watch the Trucks.

“When the series first started, they had a lot of good guys, but there was only five or six teams that really could step up anytime and win a race.  If you look at the list of teams we’ve got and drivers, I think this year there’s an honest 12 or 15 teams that could win on any given week.   To have that kind of level of competition is incredible,” said Bodine, noting that in a 36 truck field, nearly half of the competition is regularly competing for the win each week. “I believe that’s one reason that fans are drawn to the Truck Series,” said Bodine. “We’ve got a lot of good teams that are on level playing fields.  We don’t have four or five that are going to run away with the show every week.  When the fans show up to watch, they never know who is going to win.”

Bodine and Germain Racing are part of the deeper talent pool this season. They have recruited three full-time drivers to add to their Truck Series fleet this year. Bodine did his part. They are also part of another big three in Daytona as Bodine and Germain Racing attempt to race in the Truck Series season opener as well as the NNS and NSCS openers all with sponsorship from Tire Kingdom.

“It’s pretty neat.  I don’t know that it’s ever been done where one sponsor sponsored all three series at Daytona -- the same driver, same team.  Tire Kingdom has been in racing -- they do a lot of other things in NHRA and drag racing, and they partnered with Valvoline to come up with this program for Speed Weeks.  We’re really proud to be able to be with them in NASCAR. Hopefully we can grow the program and make it bigger and better down the line,” said Bodine.

Bodine is strapping into racing chassis TRD-058 for Friday’s season opener. It is the only chassis to ever be a No. 30 Tundra at Daytona or Talladega. The truck has four restrictor plate wins in a stretch that began with a pole and win in 2007 at Talladega and continued through a win at Daytona in 2009 in a then unsponsored No. 30 Tundra. No driver had collected four consecutive superspeedway wins when Bodine accomplished this.

Randy Moss Motorsports announced today that One Eighty and Iron Horse Jeans will return to the Toyota Tundra team, and will be joined by Odd Manor, a new social network game from Redmond, Wash.-based KingX Studios.

One Eighty, a Seattle, Wash.-based company delivering hospitality services primarily in the senior living industry, will make their debut on the hood of the No. 25 Toyota Tundra at Daytona International Speedway on February 18.  One Eighty was also a valuable partner of Randy Moss Motorsports’ throughout the 2009 season when they served as the primary sponsor on Malsam’s truck.  Iron Horse Jeans will make their 2011 debut on the hood of Malsam’s Toyota Tundra for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Phoenix International Raceway on February 25.  The Poway, Calif.-based company originally debuted on a RMM Toyota Tundra in the 2010 season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.  Odd Manor’s logo will decorate the rear quarter panels of Malsam’s truck as an associate sponsor for both events.

“I’m really looking forward to racing with One Eighty, Iron Horse Jeans and Odd Manor on my truck,” commented Tayler Malsam, driver of the No. 25 Toyota Tundra.  “It means a lot to me to race with the support of companies based on the West Coast.  A lot of my fans live on the West Coast and it gives them a great opportunity to support our sponsors.

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will race at Daytona International Speedway on Friday, February 18, with live coverage of the 250-mile race on SPEED Channel, MRN Radio and Sirius XM Radio beginning at 7:30 p.m. EST.  SPEED Channel will broadcast practice sessions for the NextEra Energy Resources 250 on Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. EST and Thursday afternoon at 12:00 p.m. EST.  Qualifying to set the 36-truck field will be broadcast on SPEED at 6:00 p.m. EST on Thursday, February 17.

Vision Aviation Racing (VAR) announced today the Driver/Crew Chief lineup for their first season in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS).

Las Vegas native, Justin Johnson, will be behind the wheel of the No. 51 Wounded Warrior Project/Vision Airlines Toyota Tundra with veteran Crew Chief Doug George at the helm. Johnson is coming off a Championship winning season in the 2010 Whelen All-American Series where he won 10 out of the 19 races. George, a former racer himself, comes to VAR with over 25 years of experience in the motorsports industry.

Fellow Las Vegas native, Dusty Davis, will pilot the No. 15 Vision Airlines Toyota Tundra with Crew Chief Doug Howe atop the pit box. Davis finished runner up to Johnson in the 2010 Whelen All-American Series where he racked up 4 victories. Howe, previously with Gunbroker.com Racing/SS Green Light Racing, has 6 top-five and 17 top-ten finishes to his credit.

The VAR team got a chance to work together for the first time, with great results, this past January during a Toyota Racing Development test at Disney World Speedway in Orlando, FL. Both drivers adapted immediately to the trucks and the team chemistry was evident from the start. VAR General Manager, Tom Davis, is optimistic about the upcoming Truck Series season saying, "We are really proud of how all of our guys came together and worked hard at the Orlando test. If the results of the test are any indication, we are poised to have a great rookie season."

Johnson and Davis will make their NCWTS debuts at Phoenix in the Lucas Oil 150 on February 25 as they begin the process of certification for NASCAR superspeedway tracks. Notable drivers Aric Almirola and Michael Waltrip will fill in driving the No. 51 and No. 15, respectively, for the season opener at Daytona on February 18th.

If anyone doubts that Alli Owens has some of the most dedicated fans in racing, the evidence can be seen on her race truck. After losing her primary sponsor at the conclusion of last season, Owens faced the daunting task of finding the funds to compete in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) race at Daytona International Speedway (DIS). Owens turned to her social media resources, which proved to be a winning move. The support of her fans has afforded Owens the opportunity to make her first NASCAR start in this week's NextEra Energy Resources 250.

Owens' grassroots effort rallied her fans and local sponsors to contribute to her cause. Within weeks, Owens raised enough money to subsidize her No. 76 Ray Hackett Racing Ford F-150 at the famed Florida race track. Local Daytona establishments Mullinax Ford, Rue and Ziffra, P.A., Giles Electric Company, AXA, Miller Electric Company, NECA North Florida, Bob Evans of Port Orange, IBEW Local Chapters 756, 915, 1205, 613 and 222 all contributed to the cause. She has rewarded her supporters by placing their indivdual names on her truck.

"It has been overwhelming to see the support of my fans," Owens said. "When I lost my primary sponsor during the off season, I didn't know if I'd be able to race at all this year. I'm so fortunate for my fans. They're truly the best. I can't thank them enough for all of their dedication. It means the world to me. I've had kids, adults, friends, strangers and everyone in between donate money for me to race. Their names will all be on my truck and I'm going to do everything I can to bring them a win."

No stranger to DIS or restrictor plate racing, Owens sat on the outside pole in 2009 for the ARCA event at DIS. In 2010 at DIS, she ran inside the top five for the majority of the ARCA race before being shuffled out of the draft in the closing stages of the event. Owens recorded her best ARCA finish at Talladega Superspeedway in 2009, finishing in the top-10.

With sponsorship in place, Owens is ready to focus on the task at hand.

"I'm so excited to make my first NASCAR start," Owens said. "Growing up in Daytona, I've dreamed of this since I was a kid. It took a lot of hard work and effort to get to this point and I can't wait to hit the track."

Jennifer Jo Cobb is looking to make Daytona Speedweeks history at the "World Center of Speed," the Daytona International Speedway this week. Cobb, who competed full-time in the Camping World Truck Series in 2010, is entered in both the Camping World Truck Series and the Nationwide Series events at Daytona this week.


She is looking to become the first female to race two NASCAR national touring events at Speedweeks in the history of the famed track. Cobb will have to make the Nationwide Series on speed in the No. 79 2nd Chance Motorsports Ford Mustang, but is locked into the Camping World Truck race with her own No. 10 LillysCosmetics.com Ford F-150.


"This is going to be the biggest week in my racing career," said Cobb. "The opportunity to be a part of two premier races at Daytona during Speedweeks, and make history, is a dream come true for me. But, I'm really looking for positive finishes on the track. I feel that we have a chance to run really well and be a positive example for people looking to chase their dreams. I feel that we can leave Daytona with a lot of momentum for 2011."


Cobb is no stranger to making history. Last season Cobb finished 17th in final championship standings in the Camping World Truck Series. The result was the highest for any female racer in the modern era of NASCAR. Moving into the 2011 race season Cobb has plans to run for rookie of the year honors in the Nationwide Series for 2nd Chance Motorsports.


"I'm moving up into the Nationwide Series and will race there all season," continued Cobb.  "I want to race in the Sprint Cup Series and this is the next step to make that happen. Making an impression this weekend will hopefully attract some additional sponsorship for us too. That will help us be successful this year."


Cobb will practice and qualify both her Truck and Nationwide entries beginning on Wednesday this week at the track.

Eddie Sharp Racing announced veteran NASCAR driver Mike Skinner will pilot the No. 45 Cushman Toyota Tundra at Daytona International Speedway in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event on February 18.

“I’m thrilled for the opportunity to have Mike Skinner drive for us at Daytona,” said team owner Eddie Sharp. “To have someone of his caliber drive for our young truck program is exciting. I have known Mike for many years, and I am thankful for his trust in our program and his relationship with Toyota. I’m really looking forward to working with him.”

The former NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion will compete for the eighth time at the 2.5-mile speedway in the NCWTS.

“Eddie Sharp and I have been friends for a long time, and I have watched him win big in the ARCA Racing Series over the past few years,” said Skinner. “He came to me a few years ago and told me about his goal to move into the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. I think it is exciting to be able to work together and help him accomplish this dream in his first full season in NASCAR.”

Skinner will continue to drive a Toyota Tundra with Cushman on board as sponsor. Cushman vehicles are used worldwide to transport personnel, materials and equipment at manufacturing facilities, warehouses, resorts, and other commercial and industrial facilities. Jefferson Hodges will be the crew chief the No. 45 Cushman Toyota. Hodges, who served as crew chief for veteran Steve Park in several NCWTS in 2010, provides years of experience in the NASCAR garages, including experience as crew chief for Kevin Conway in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, car chief for Paul Menard in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. He also won the NASCAR Weekly Series National championship with Mark McFarland.

“I’m excited to have the opportunity to work with Mike Skinner,” said Hodges. “We’ve prepared a great truck to bring for Skinner, and it’s going to be a great opportunity to work with a driver that has such stature and knowledge. His experience will accelerate our learning curve in our first year in the series, and I really am looking forward to working with him.”

Skinner will join Craig Goess in the ESR lineup at Daytona International Speedway. Goess, a NCWTS rookie, will drive the No. 46 Greenville Toyota of N.C. Tundra in the event.

With 25 plus years in the sport, it isn't often Michael Waltrip experiences something new in NASCAR.

 

But next week in Daytona the two-time Daytona 500 champion enters his first Camping World Truck Series race on the 2.5-mile Florida highbanks.

 

Vision Aviation Racing (VAR) announced today that Waltrip will pilot the No. 15 NASCAR.COM RaceView/Wounded Warrior Project/Vision Airlines Tundra in the Feb. 18 truck race.

 

"I love Daytona and I've always wanted to race a truck there," said Waltrip. "Those races are so fun to watch on television or be a part of in the broadcast booth. Last year's winner hit the wall on the last lap and the guy who finished second spun out. It was an amazing last lap. I want to be part of that."

 

The No. 15's sponsor NASCAR.COM RaceView is the most comprehensive Sprint Cup race experience online allowing fans to watch the action and listen to live in-car audio right from a computer. The brand new and improved RaceView gives fans control of live race coverage with the ability to customize their entire experience. RaceView features upgraded virtual video and even more camera angles including pit road.

 

NASCAR.COM will also be launching Truck Race Buddy, content which will provide live feeds of racing action from four different camera angles and a mosaic view, all featuring the natural sounds of the at-track action. Waltrip is always happy to be a part of getting fans closer to the action. "There is so much action in the truck series, and it is really difficult to capture it all. Vision Airlines and The Wounded Warrior Project, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to honoring and empowering wounded service men and women, will also be partnering up with VAR and Waltrip for the NextEra Energy Resources 250 in Daytona.

 

The Vision Aviation Racing team begins its first season of truck racing after sweeping the top two spots with drivers Justin Johnson and Dusty Davis in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series. The team won 74% of the 19 races it entered last year and plans to make an impact in the ultra-competitive truck series.

"With Michael's proven track record at Daytona and our exciting partnerships with NASCAR.COM RaceView, The Wounded Warrior Project, and Vision Airlines we at VAR are looking forward to great things in Daytona," said team General Manager, Tom Davis.

The VAR announcement also means Waltrip will race in all three major NASCAR series in Daytona - another first for Waltrip. Waltrip will also race the No. 15 NAPA Toyota in the Daytona 500 and the No. 99 Pastrana-Waltrip Toyota in the Nationwide race.

 

"On my way to retirement I seem to have gotten really busy," laughed Waltrip who owns two top-five finishes in eight truck starts. "I've always wanted to run all three races down in Daytona so now after 25 years I get my chance. I've come so close to winning truck races and I would like to get that accomplished."

 

Waltrip's VAR Tundra carries a special paint scheme to commemorate his 2001 Daytona 500 victory driving for car owner Dale Earnhardt who died in a turn four accident on the final lap.

While he's reduced his NASCAR schedule he hasn't slowed down. Waltrip raced in Dubai earlier this month and took the "Michael Waltrip Comedy Garage" to appearances in Kansas and Canada. He plans a handful of superspeedway races in 2011 and more international racing. On Feb. 1 Waltrip's book "In the Blink of an Eye" went on sale chronicling the events of the 2001 Daytona 500 as well as his life and the challenges building Michael Waltrip Racing.

The RaceView truck is 1-0 in NCWTS competition.

Bodine is the reigning and two-time NASCAR truck season champion. Since 2005 – his first season driving full time for Germain Racing -- he has never finished lower than fourth in the season point standings. Along with winning the series title last year, he also took home the truck championship in 2006.


Bodine’s truck record at Daytona has been impeccable with two wins, two runners-up, a third and a fifth for a finishing average of 2.3 in six starts. Bodine’s overall truck record includes: 21 wins, 82 top fives and 106 top 10s in 165 starts.

“I am very excited to have Tire Kingdom and Valvoline for all of my races in Daytona and being part of the Service Central Racing program,” said Bodine. “It does not happen often that you get to represent one great company, let alone two in all three races in a weekend. Hopefully with a little luck we can run up front and get into Victory Lane.”


Bodine, a native of Chemung, N.Y. and the youngest (46) of the three famous racing brothers with Geoffrey and Brett, has a career total of 238 Cup starts (including four in the Daytona 500) and 324 Nationwide Series starts. He has captured 15 victories in the Nationwide Series.

Fresh off his first season in stock cars, Red Bull Racing Team development driver Cole Whitt is taking the next step in his NASCAR career. The 19-year-old will drive Turn One Racing.

Whitt and Turn One Racing, owned by veteran NASCAR driver Stacy Compton, have a one-race head start on 2011. The driver made his Truck debut in the No. 60 last fall at Homestead-Miami Speedway. levelThe 2008 USAC National Midget Series champion, Whitt spent 2010 in finished third at Greenville-Pickens Speedway.

He went on to finish fourth in points with two poles, six top fives and seven top 10s in only 10 races. That success carried over to a late- Whitt, in the No. 84 Red Bull Toyota, debuted in the Nationwide Series in November, putting together impressive weekends back-to-back at Phoenix International Raceway (15th) and Homestead (17th).

In the Truck finale at Homestead, he qualified 10th and finished 28th after an on-track incident ruined what could have been a top-10 day. Whitt established a baseline for communication with crew chief Marcus Richmond, who returns to call the shots in 2011.

Homestead last year, and he proved to us that he has a ton of talent and the ability to win. By adding Cole to our lineup as a teammate to Justin Marks, we will have two of the rising talents in t Whitt takes over a truck that finished 14th in the 2010 owner points.

He and Marks, in the No. 66, will unload next month for Speedweeks at Daytona International Speedway with a brief test session, practice and qualifying all leading up a 100-lap, 250-mile race to start the season Feb. 18.

Vision Aviation Racing announced today that Aric Almirola will drive the No.51 Vision Airlines/Emerald Coast Resorts Toyota Tundra in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) race at Daytona International Speedway on Friday, February 18, 2011.


Almirola will be climbing behind the wheel of the same equipment that propelled him to a second-place points finish in the 2010 NCWTS driver standings. Coming off his most successful season in the Truck Series since his debut in 2005, Almirola visited victory lane twice and racked up 11 top-five and 21 top-10 finishes to round out the 2010 season.


"We are extremely happy to have Aric back in the 51 for our Daytona efforts. He has proven himself to be a top contender in the Truck Series and we look forward to a very successful weekend," said team General Manager Tom Davis.
