No. 30 Drink B Chevrolet News and Notes

  • This Week’s Silverado…The Turner Motorsports No. 30 team will be using chassis TMS-218 for Friday night’s Kentucky 201 at Kentucky Speedway. TMS-218 is a powerhouse for the Turner Motorsports team after claiming a Keystone Light pole award at Pocono Raceway and Piquet Jr.’s first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) win at Michigan International Speedway.
  • Last Race Recap…Nelson Piquet Jr. made his third start at Iowa Speedway, and after starting from the third spot, the Brazilian native went on to capture his tenth top-10 of the season.The No. 30 truck battled with the leaders throughout the night before differing pit strategies and numerous cautions late in the race relegated Piquet Jr. to a sixth-place finish.
  • Kentucky: Take Two…Piquet Jr. will be looking for redemption as he returns to Kentucky Speedway for their second race of the 2012 schedule. The Brazilian’s luck quickly ran out during the June 28th race, as a multi-truck wreck ended the No. 30 team’s night by lap 68. In past races, Piquet Jr. has led a total of 42 laps at the Sparta, Kentucky track.
  • A Different Kind of Racetrack…Prior to hitting the track at Kentucky Speedway, Piquet Jr. and teammates Miguel Paludo, James Buescher, Justin Allgaier and Brad Sweet will head to Churchill Downs, home of horse racing’s most prestigious event and the first jewel in the Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing, the Kentucky Derby. The drivers will tour the 137-year-old facility which houses and trains world-class thoroughbreds year-round in addition to hosting live horse racing in spring and fall meets.  
  • 50th Race Festivities…The Kentucky 201 event marks Piquet Jr’s 50th start since beginning in NASCAR. The 50 starts is a combination of his NCWTS efforts, as well as his four NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) starts. In celebration of this achievement, fans of Piquet Jr. can log on to his Facebook page (www.facebook.com/NelsonAngeloPiquet) to enter to win numerous prizes. Fans have to simply list their top-five NASCAR memories from Piquet Jr.’s 50 NASCAR starts.

Nelson Piquet Jr. on returning to Kentucky Speedway–

“Our track record is not the best at Kentucky, so I’m definitely looking for some redemption. I really do like the track, and we’ve always qualified well there, but our results have not shown what we’re capable of here. The truck we’re bringing is the one we won with at Michigan Speedway, so hopefully we can get the same results with it in Kentucky.

  • Back In Kentucky…James Buescher and the No. 31 Fraternal Order of Eagles (F.O.E.) Chevrolet Silverado returns to Kentucky Speedway for their second of two trips in the 2012 season. On Friday, Buescher and the team look to get back to their winning ways and sweep the season’s Kentucky races. There is no better place to accomplish this than the intermediate 1.5-mile oval. Buescher comes in with a stellar record, completing all but two laps at the track, with an average finish of eighth.
  • The Eagle has landed…Turner Motorsports welcomes back Fraternal Order of Eagles to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS). For the first time this season, F.O.E. will be featured on the No. 31 truck at Kentucky Speedway. The Fraternal Order of Eagles is an international non-profit organization, which unites fraternally in the spirit of liberty, truth, justice, and equality, to make human life more desirable by lessening its ills, and by promoting peace, prosperity, gladness and hope. The F.O.E. was founded in 1898 by six theatre owners gathered in a Seattle shipyard to discuss a musician’s strike. After addressing the matter, they agreed to “bury the hatchet” and form “The Order of Good Things.” As numbers grew, members changed the name to “The Fraternal Order of Eagles.” Presently, F.O.E. membership is almost one million strong, with more than 1,700 local aeries in the U.S. and Canada. Women’s auxiliaries total more than 1,500, with more than 335,000 members. Among its many accomplishments, the F.O.E. counts the founding of Mother’s Day and esteemed members include seven former U.S. Presidents.
  • This Week’s Silverado…The No. 31 Fraternal Order of Eagles Chevrolet Silverado team will unload chassis TMS-214. Buescher will pilot the chassis that has brought home three victories in 2012 as well as a second at Pocono Raceway.  
  • Real Horsepower…Prior to hitting the track at Kentucky Speedway, James Buescher and teammates Miguel Paludo, Nelson Piquet Jr., Justin Allgaier and Brad Sweet will head to Churchill Downs, home of horse racing’s most prestigious event and the first jewel in the Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing, the Kentucky Derby. The drivers will tour the 137-year-old facility which houses and trains world-class thoroughbreds year-round in addition to hosting live horse racing in spring and fall meets.  
  • Last Race Recap…Buescher and the No. 31 Turner Motorsports Chevrolet team rolled into the state of the art short track of Iowa Speedway. After being a truck to beat in the early going, a late-race spin ended Buescher’s promising run, posting a 17th-place finish.  
  • Watch LIVE…The Kentucky 201 can be seen on Friday, September 21st on SPEED. Race coverage will begin at 7 p.m. EST. The event can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 90.

  • The Run for the Roses…Miguel Paludo heads to Kentucky Speedway for the second of the season’s two NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) events at the 1.5-mile tri-oval. Paludo has participated in four previous events at the Sparta, Kentucky facility, tying it with Texas Motor Speedway as the track where he has made the most starts. In those four races, Paludo has an average start of 14.5, an average finish of 19.5, an one DNF. Paludo’s best start and finish were both scored with his No. 32 Turner Motorsports team earlier this year when he started fifth and finished 12th in the 150-lap June event.
  • Real Horsepower…Prior to hitting the track at Kentucky Speedway, Paludo and teammates Nelson Piquet Jr., James Buescher, Justin Allgaier and Brad Sweet will head to Churchill Downs, home of horse racing’s most prestigious event and the first jewel in the Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing, the Kentucky Derby. The drivers will tour the 137-year-old facility which houses and trains world-class thoroughbreds year-round in addition to hosting live horse racing in spring and fall meets.
  • This Week’s Silverado…Paludo and the No. 32 Duroline Brakes and Components team will unload chassis TMS-216 for this week’s race at Kentucky Speedway. This chassis made its debut when the NCWTS visited Kentucky in the spring, where Paludo earned a 12th-place finish. The chassis also earned a top-10 with Paludo’s 10th-place finish at Michigan International Speedway last month.
  • Diabetes Fact of the Week…Did you know that the older you are, the higher your chances are of being diagnosed with diabetes? In the United States, only 0.26% of all people under 20 (about 1 in every 400 children and adolescents) has diabetes. At age 20 and older, 25.6 million or 11.3% of all people in this age group have diabetes. By age 65 or older, 10.9 million or 26.9% of all people in this age group are diagnosed with the disease.
  • Previous Race Recap…Paludo earned his third top-10 finish of the season at Iowa Speedway, closing up the points gap between him and the top-10 in the NCWTS driver standings. Paludo rebounded from an ill-timed caution, which put him two laps down, to fight his way back onto the lead lap and score a 10th-place finish.
  • Watch and Listen…The Kentucky 201 can be seen live on Friday, September 21st on SPEED. Race coverage will begin at 7:00 p.m. ET. The event can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 90.

Miguel Paludo on driving at Kentucky Speedway-

“I’ve been really successful at Kentucky Speedway in practice and qualifying, but not really successful in the races. When we came here in the spring, it was definitely the best weekend I’ve ever had here. We led a practice, qualified fifth and finished 12th; our handling just wasn’t where we needed at the very end because of the changing track conditions. I’m feeling confident going into this weekend because we figured out a lot of things last time and our mile-and-a-half program has been so strong this year. This is one of the racetracks I love because I feel comfortable there, so I’m looking forward to going back and I’m hoping that this will be the weekend that is successful from beginning to end.”
