Dusty Davis Finishes 25th in Martinsville Debut

Vision Aviation Racing (VAR) driver, Dusty Davis, brought the Vision Airlines/Emerald Coast Resorts Toyota Tundra home 25th in his Martinsville Speedway debut.

Davis qualified 19th for the Kroger 250 and quickly made his way to the front after the green flag fell. Up to 6th position on lap 60, Dusty was happy with his truck and told Crew Chief Doug Howe over the radio, “This truck is awesome!”

Davis fell back in the pack after pit stops but returned to the top-10 by lap 165. On lap 204, contact from the 30 truck sent him spinning into the turn 3 wall. Davis was forced to bring his truck down pit road for repairs, losing 5 laps.

“My truck was running awesome today. We had a really good base line setup. We made it up to the top-10 and passed a lot of trucks today. With about 50 to go the 30 decided to knock me into the fence. Some drivers respect you and some don’t but I guess that’s racing. It’s unfortunate because of the owner’s points and I am sure this won’t help us out,” commented Davis after the race.

Though this is not the result Davis or the No.15 team hoped for they have a lot to be excited about. Davis took immediately to a half mile track that usually frustrates rookies. Loop statistics ranked Davis 4th overall in green flag passes and 5th overall in quality passes made in the top-15.

“It was not the finish we wanted but it shows improvement. Doug Howe and the guys did a great job. I really had a blast driving here and can’t wait to come back in the fall.”
