Jason White Hangs Tough for 9th Place Finish in Chicagoland

The annual visit to Chicagoland Speedway for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series has become one of excitement and survival and Jason White provided both on Saturday night during the 150-lap event.  An exciting green-white-checkered finish would see White and his No.23 GunBroker.com Ford survive for a much deserved ninth place finish in the running of the American Ethanol 225.

White started the 225-mile event from the 13th position as a result of his qualifying effort earlier in the day at the fast 1.5-mile track.   Dealing with what seemed like a “persnickety” No. 23 GunBroker.com Ford, White maintained his position towards the front of the field the majority of the race.  Jason and his GunBroker.com team would eventually avoid some late race excitement and safely bring their No. 23 Ford home to a solid ninth place finish – his fourth Top-10 finish of the season.

“That was an exciting race out there tonight and ultimately a solid finish for our GunBroker.com team,” stated White. “We had a fast truck and because of that we were able to run upfront all night. The handling of our No. 23 GunBroker.com Ford was a little temperamental as it was very sensitive to the changes we made but the truck remained fast the entire time and I was able to deal with it.”

The ninth place finish moved Jason into the Top-10 in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series drivers’ standings as he sits in the 10th position –only seven points out of the ninth position.

“The restarts were very crucial tonight and I think for the most part we did pretty good there,” said Jason.  “I thought we had a Top-10 truck before we unloaded and it feels good for this team to come home with one.  I think we were still better than that but we had some on track encounters that could have produced a much worse finish.  This is that momentum building we have been talking about and we have some of my favorite tracks coming up.”

Jason and his GunBroker.com team will enjoy a week off before the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series returns to action on Saturday August 4th when the series visits Pocono Raceway for the running of the Pocono Mountains 125.
