Tim George Jr. Earns Top-15 Finish at Iowa Speedway
Tim George Jr. and the No. 2 Applebee’s/Potomac Family Dining Group team finished 15th at Iowa Speedway after battling handling conditions on the Chevrolet for the majority of the American Ethanol 200. George Jr. started the 200-lap affair from the 18th position and maintained a running position within the top 20 for the first portion of the event. The New York City native reported a loose-handling condition in the entry of the corners and a tight-handling condition in the exit of the corners in the early stages of the race. Crew chief Gere Kennon instructed the Richard Childress Racing driver to increase and decrease the amount of brake on the Chevrolet Silverado to help remedy the handling issues. Over the course of three pit stops, the Kennon-led team made routine chassis adjustments to assist with the handling on George’s No. 2 Chevrolet. George battled for position in the closing laps and was a to maneuver around the 0.875-mile track to cross the finish line in the 15th position.

Ty Dillon Earns a Hard Fought Seventh-Place Finish at Iowa Speedway
Ty Dillon and the No. 3 Bass Pro Shops team battled back to a seventh-place finish after falling to as far as 32nd and two laps down to the leader with less than 60 laps remaining in the American Ethanol 200 at Iowa Speedway. Dillon took the green flag from the 15th position on Saturday night and immediately reported that his Chevrolet Silverado was extremely loose on the exit of the corners. During a lap five caution period, crew chief Marcus Richmond called Dillon to pit road for a round of chassis adjustments to alleviate the loose-handling condition. The Welcome, N.C., native rejoined competition in the 32nd position on lap nine. Dillon maneuvered through traffic, battled his way toward the front and was scored in the 10th position at the halfway point of the 200-lap affair before reporting to the Bass Pro Shops team that the right-front tire was shaking. Richmond instructed the Sunoco Rookie of the Year Contender down pit road under green-flag conditions for four fresh Goodyear tires, Sunoco E15 fuel and a track bar adjustment. Just as Dillon was returning to the racing surface, a caution flag was displayed, sending Dillon an additional lap down to the leader. The young driver was able to take the wave around, placing him in the 32nd position and one lap down for the ensuing restart on lap 142. Dillon raced his way into position for the Lucky Dog Award and was given a lap back when another caution flag was displayed on lap 163. With 30 laps remaining, Dillon was scored in the 17th position and battled to improve 10 positions in the closing laps to cross the finish line in seventh place, earning his ninth consecutive top-10 finish of the season.

Coulter Drives to Eighth-Place Finish, Earning Third Consecutive Top-10 Result
The No. 22 Richard Childress Racing entry unloaded at Iowa Speedway for the American Ethanol 200 with the title sponsor’s black and green paint scheme and after qualifying 12th at the 0.875-mile facility, Joey Coulter drove the American Ethanol Chevrolet to an eighth-place finish. From the drop of the green flag, Coulter relayed to crew chief Harold Holly that his RCR machine was tight and the condition continued to increase as the run ensued. When the caution flag flew for the second time on lap 49, Holly directed Coulter on to pit road for a track bar adjustment to alleviate the tight-handling condition. Over the next 60 laps the tight-handling condition persisted, with Coulter falling back as low as the 13th position in the running order. On lap 136, while running under caution, the 2011 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Rookie of the Year brought the American Ethanol Chevrolet to pit road for routine service and a chassis adjustment. The No. 22 pit crew delivered a strong performance, gaining the Miami Springs, Fla.-native valuable track position. The entire No. 22 team rallied around the evening’s mantra “never give up,” as Coulter wheeled his truck from the 11th position up to the eighth position by the time the checkered flag flew. Coulter now sits eighth in the Camping World Truck Series driver championship point standings, 61points behind leader Timothy Peters.
