Codie Rohrbaugh is a newly married man, but his honeymoon is taking a detour to Michigan International Speedway for Saturday afternoon’s Corrigan Oil 200.

While his friends and competitors were slingin’ the dirt at Eldora Speedway last Thursday night, the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series rookie was preparing to walk down the aisle to marry longtime girlfriend Brooklyn Swick.

The two tied the knot on Saturday, Aug. 3 in Maysville, West Virginia.

On Monday though, the wedding bells and toasts were in the rear-view mirror and Rohrbaugh was back in his Mooresville, N.C. CR7 Motorsports team shop preparing for his fifth race of the Truck Series season.

“The wedding was incredible and I’m a lucky guy,” said Rohrbaugh.

“Thankfully Brooklyn knew what she was getting herself into when marrying a race car driver, so she’s been pretty good about letting the honeymoon slide for now.”

Rohrbaugh said he’ll take his new bride to an extravagant honeymoon during the off-season, but with just eight races remaining this season, his CR7 Motorsports team plans to compete in most of them and its important for the Petersburg, West Virginia native to stay focused.

“Looks like we’ll be racing more often than not over this final stretch of the season and I’m excited about that,” offered Rohrbaugh. “Sure, this season has been made a year of growing pains, but together we’ve learned a lot as a team, and I wouldn’t trade that experience for the world.

“I think our trucks have a lot of speed right now, our guys are gelling, we just need some luck during the race, and I think we can turn some heads by Homestead in November.”

While a new competitor at Michigan International Speedway in Trucks, the 25-year-old has two starts in the ARCA Menards Series with back-to-back top-10 finishes of eighth and 10th in 2017 and 2018 respectively.

It’s been a while since Rohrbaugh has been nestled in the Irish Hills, but he’s excited to return to the Motor City and see what his team can do in 100 laps.

“I like Michigan a lot,” added Rohrbaugh. “It’s a really fast place and I think the draft is going to be huge on Saturday. For us, we just need to execute.

"We need to take advantage of practice, qualify good and then race hard. “We’re going back-to-back from Michigan to Bristol, so we’re hoping for a solid finish that will carry us back to some short track racing.”

CR7 Motorsports has six NGOTS starts to their credit with a career-best finish of 14th at Kentucky Speedway (July 2019). A 14th place qualifying effort at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway (May 2019) is the team’s best time trials effort to date.

In 20 career ARCA starts, Rohrbaugh has a best finish of seventh twice at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway (July 2018 and Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway (February 2019). He has qualified a career-best fourth on four different occasions most recently at Kansas Speedway (Oct. 2018).
