NGOTS: Johnny Sauter wins JEGS 200 at Dover International Speedway

Johnny Sauter held off 2018 NASCAR Gander Outdoor Truck Series Champion Brett Moffitt to win Friday’s JEGS 200 at Dover International Speedway.

Brett Moffitt started from the pole and led a race-high 82 laps in the 200-lap race.

It was Sauter’s third straight win at Dover International Speedway and his 24th career victory in the NASCAR Gander Outdoor Truck Series. For Sauter, this was his first win of the 2019 season since returning to his former team ThorSport Racing.

“When you get kicked in the curb, you feel like you have a lot to prove,” Johnny Sauter told FS1. “I can’t thank Duke and Rhonda Thorson enough.

“A couple months ago, i didn’t know if i would be racing. To get three in a row is extra special. I was highly motivated. This is so special. It ranks up there as one of the beast wins of my career.”

Sauter won Friday’s race by 0.603 seconds over Brett Moffitt of GMS Racing after starting second alongside Moffitt.

Rounding out the top five were: Brett Moffitt in second, Harrison Burton in third, Grant Enfinger in fourth and Matt Crafton in fifth.

Friday’s race featured 11 lead changes among six drivers including: Johnny Sauter, Brett Moffitt, Harrison Burton, Ben Rhodes, Grant Enfinger and Sheldon Creed.

The race also featured six cautions over the course of Friday’s race. Of the six cautions, four were result of on-track incidents and two were the stage cautions after the end of each stage.

Rounding out the top ten were: Ben Rhodes in sixth, Austin Hill in seventh, Derek Kraus in eighth, Tyler Ankrum in ninth and Ross Chastain in tenth.

The NASCAR Gander Outdoor Truck Series will head into Kansas Speedway next Friday May 10, in the running of the Digital Ally 250 at 8:30 p.m. Eastern on Fox Sports 1.
