BEN RHODES BOUNCES BACK WITH TOP-FIVE FINISH AT CHARLOTTE MOTOR SPEEDWAY

“I feel like our Alpha Energy Solutions Ford F-150 passed about 65 trucks tonight. It was kind of disappointing. I seemed like every single time we were on the outside, we would inherit the inside. You want to be on the outside here – it was kind of like winning the lottery. If you got the outside, you’d win big. If you came to the inside line on the restart, you would lose big. It seemed like every single time, we were the losers. We still made it up, we still got a top-five finish today, but the restarts were absolutely crazy. It was a tough night for our guys – we fought hard. The pit crew did a great job, mechanics did a great job – we’re just going to back to the drawing board on our front package, so next time we have to pass several trucks in one race, we can do it with no contest.”

11TH-PLACE FINSIH FOR MATT CRAFTON IN CHARLOTTE

“We just struggled tonight with being free. Our Mold Armor/Menards Ford F-150 was better up top, and when I lifted early. We had a top-five run going, but the 4 truck got into me on that late restart. We had a tire rub on the left rear, and fender damage, so we had to pit. Since we were on newer tires than the rest of the field, we were able to salvage a decent finish. Just not our night tonight.”

GRANT ENFINGER FINISHES 12TH AT CHARLOTTE

All-in-all we didn’t have the best performance today, really from the time we unloaded. We just missed something. It wasn’t from a lack of effort. Everybody on this Champion Power Equipment Ford racing team worked their tails off all day, but we just couldn’t find it. We struggled from the beginning of practice through the end of the race. Constant issues, and never enough speed all night. It was just one of those races – super frustrating. Everywhere we’ve been, we’ve been better than we were last year. We’ll go back and regroup, and get ready for Texas in a couple weeks.”

TOUGH HOMETRACK RUN FOR MYATT SNIDER AT CHARLOTTE MOTOR SPEEDWAY

“It was quite up-and-down tonight. We got a penalty at the beginning of the race that I wasn’t too happy about it, but it was my fault. I stopped a hair short in the pit stall on our first stop, but we rebounded from the penalty pretty quickly and got back up there in the No. 13 Century Container / Louisiana Hot Sauce Ford F-150. The biggest thing that we were just trying to figure out the whole race was adjusting the truck, and we made good adjustments. The track just kept freeing up on us, so it kept us behind the ball a little bit, but towards the end we were really good. We were able to get up to P8, and we were able to run well with our truck [after the adjustments]. I felt on the final restart though, we got really tight. Maybe I got into the marbles or I didn’t clean the tires enough, but that’s just racing sometimes. You win some and lose some as a team. We still finished ahead of the 25 truck for Rookie of the Year points. Overall, probably not a great points day, but I’m sure we’ll be competitive at Texas. I have a lot of experience there – the same amount as anyone has after the new repave, so we’ll be good there.”
