Jason White High Fives at Daytona

Jason White entered the 2012 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season opening race with high expectations and showed why he felt that way.  The Richmond, Virginia native was strong in the running of the NextEra Energy Resources 250 at the Daytona International Speedway as he piloted his No. 23 GunBroker.com Ford to a fifth place finish.

White started the 100-lap scheduled event from the eighth position and wasted little time moving to the front of the field.  Once the No. 23 GunBroker.com Ford was at the front Jason would steer clear of any troubles and position himself for a potential trip to Victory Lane.

With just two laps left Jason’s Roush Yates Engines powered truck led the field to the first of what would end up being three green-white-checkered finishes. The exciting finish of the race would shuffle the field at the front and put White in his fifth place finishing spot.

“Wow, what an exciting race,” stated Jason White. “We had a great shot at winning it and Todd (Bodine) and I were running that outside lane there on that last restart and we were headed to the front before the caution ended the race.  Our GunBroker.com Ford was really strong tonight and I was able to run that outside line with some good success.  My guys gave me an awesome truck and it was fast right off the trailer through the end of the race. I really wanted this win but getting a top-five finish and a clean truck is a great start to the season.”

Jason led a total of 16 laps on his way to his second top-five finish in the last three races at Daytona.   He leaves the season opening race sitting fourth in the driver’s standings – seven points out of the top spot.  After a few weeks off, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will return to action on March 31st at Martinsville Speedway.
