Austin Wayne Self to attend Texas State Fair with partner GO TEXAN

While juggling a busy NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) schedule, Austin, Texas native Austin Wayne Self (@AustinWSelf) will carve time to attend the highly popular State Fair of Texas set to launch on September 29 and run through October 22 at the Fair Park in Dallas.

Before competing in Saturday night’s Las Vegas 350 at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway, the Texan will detour to his home state where he’ll attend a VIP event this Thursday, Sept. 28 to officially kick off the three-week festival.

“I’m very excited to come back home and attend the State Fair of Texas,” said Self who recorded a career-best second place NASCAR finish at Daytona International Speedway earlier this season.

“The atmosphere, events, rides, games, food and all really do a good job at  showcasing the pride that Texans have at this fair and I’m looking forward to spending some time there over the next couple of weeks.”

In addition to attending the VIP event this week, Self will return to the State Fair of Texas for two additional weekends making appearances at the GO TEXAN pavilion.

GO TEXAN represents Texas agri-business on state, national and international levels by building recognition with the GO TEXAN mark.

Along with its signature mark in the shape of Texas, GO TEXAN celebrates, promotes and supports the business savvy and plainspoken grit Texas agriculture is known throughout the world.

Whether it’s grown, sewn or served on a plate, more than 26 million Texans shop, travel and dine out in full support of Texas business and agriculture.

One of the featured partners with GO TEXAN is Texas Grain Sorghum.

In the United States, and other countries across the globe, sorghum grain is primarily used for livestock feed and ethanol production, but is becoming popular in the consumer food industry and other emerging markets.

Traditionally, nearly one-third of the U.S. sorghum crop is used for renewable fuel production. In fact, sorghum produces the same amount of ethanol per bushel as comparable feedstocks while using up to one-third less water.

With ethanol drawing a more hefty presence in NASCAR, the partnership is a win-win for all parties involved.

At the pavilion, Self will meet with attendees, sign autographs, take pictures, and draw for tickets to the JAG Metals 350 at Texas Motor Speedway on Nov. 3.

Additionally, AM Racing’s No. 22 GO TEXAN truck will be on display for the entire Texas State Fair allowing go-getters an up close and personal view of Self’s 3,400-pound machine.

His appearance schedule at the pavilion is as follows:

Saturday, October 7:

  • 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
  • 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

“GO TEXAN has been a tremendous partner at AM Racing and I’m honored that they have asked me to spend some time with the fair attendees over the next couple of weeks,” added Self. “I’m looking forward to bringing a little bit of the NASCAR world to the pavilion and its going to be a great time!”
