Stewart Friesen Race Recap

Final practice for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) was cancelled Friday, resulting in only 50 minutes of track time for Stewart Friesen and the Halmar Friesen Racing team before qualifying Saturday afternoon. The No. 52 Chevy was fast, and Friesen advanced to the second round of qualifying, earning the 18th starting position in the Alpha Energy Solutions 250.

By lap 19 of the race, Friesen was running 11th and working his way through lapped traffic while still managing to take care of his tires. He ran as high as 9th and finished the Stage solidly in 12th.

After a four-tire pit stop, Friesen would restart the second Stage from 14th position. He fought a tight truck for the next 70 laps, making it difficult to enter the sharp corners that make Martinsville so challenging. Friesen fell back to 19th as the second Stage came to an end under caution.

On lap 176, Friesen avoided a three car wreck in turn 4 that put the field under the 7th caution of the afternoon. He came in for a four-tire pit stop, only to make a second pit-stop just two laps later for a tire issue. With the race nearing conclusion, it would be difficult for the team to make up the lost time on pit road and would end the day in 25th position.
Stew says…

“I’m disappointed with our finish today. I’m ready to run up front and finish up front, something I know we are capable of doing. My team did a great job and I got some valuable experience, but definitely frustrated with how our day ended.

We are only three races into the season, and I know we will start having finishes we are proud of soon.”
