Brett Moffitt Earns Sixth-Place Finish After Long Day at Martinsville

Brett Moffitt  and the No. 7 Red Horse Racing team earned a sixth-place finish at Martinsville Speedway in the Alpha Energy Solutions 250. On Friday, NASCAR Camping World Series teams participated in one practice sessions, while the second was washed out, and Moffitt posted the second-fastest time. On Saturday, Moffitt transferred to the second of three rounds of knockout group qualifying to earn the 15th starting spot. Under sunny skies, the field took the green flag, and Moffitt, mired in traffic, fell back to the 18th position. Fighting a tight handling condition, Moffitt was in the 17th position at the conclusion of Stage 1. Crew chief Butch Hylton called the 24-year-old to pit road and the team provided four fresh Goodyear tires and a tank of Sunoco fuel, as well as a track bar adjustment. Moffitt restarted in 14th, but within four laps, had moved to 11th. Under another caution on lap 118, Moffitt once again visited pit road for four tires, fuel and an adjustment. Moffitt finished the Stage 2 in 12th-place, but stayed out as most trucks went to pit road and started Stage 3 in the third position. Moffitt was able to hold off several trucks with fresher tires and finish the 250-lap event in sixth position, picking up his first top-10 of the season and moving him into the 10th position in the NCWTS series points standings.

Brett Moffitt Quote:
“It’s really good just to have a solid day after the way the first two races of the year went – to just get out here with our Toyota Tundra and come home with a decent finish. That’s what we needed. I think it’s a good place to build off of and look forward to just keep moving on.”
