NCWTS: Eight Cautions Slow Active Pest Control 200 at Atlanta

The ninth annual Active Pest Control 200 at Atlanta Motor Speedway saw eight cautions over the 130-lap event at the 1.054-mile Georgia oval. There were nine total drivers impacted in race incidents over the course of the event. A total of 38 laps were ran under the yellow flag.

Like the XFINITY Series race earlier in the afternoon, it wouldn’t be long before we would see our first yellow flag. It would come out on lap two involving Brett Moffitt, Timothy Peters and Noah Gragson in turn four. All drivers would continue as there would be no free pass. Field went back green on lap four.

The next caution flag would fly on lap 27 for Chase Elliott in the No. 23 GMS Racing entry. Wendell Chavous would receive the free pass while NASCAR checked the track for potential fluid. The No. 23 team would correct the issue and continue their way. The field would go back green on lap 46.

The end of stage one would be the reason for the third caution flag on lap 40. Christopher Bell in the No. 4 Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota would win this one. Kyle Busch, Matt Crafton, Ben Rhodes, Austin Cindric, Johnny Sauter, Alex Bowman, Chase Elliott, Ross Chastain and Brett Moffitt would round out the top 10. The No. 50 of Akinori Ogata would be the beneficiary.

The fourth caution would wave five laps later for the No. 51 of Kyle Busch. Busch would continue in the 200-mile event and go on to lead 25 of the 130 laps. The No. 52 of Stewart Friesen would get the free pass under this caution. The field would go back green on lap 54.

The conclusion of stage two would be the fifth slow-down of the day. Bell, who won the first stage of the event, also took the second stage in his No. 4 Toyota Tundra. Kyle Busch, Ben Rhodes, Timothy Peters, Matt Crafton, Johnny Sauter, Alex Bowman, Chase Elliott, Ross Chastain and Austin Dillon rounded out the top 10. Cody Coughlin would receive the free pass.

The next yellow flag would occur eight laps later at lap 95. It would involve the No. 44 of Tommy Joe Martins in turn two. Friesen, who got the free pass in the caution at lap 51, also got the free pass in this one. Martins would continue with his day.

The No. 12 of Jordan Anderson would bring out the next caution at lap 112. Anderson spun on the frontstretch with just 18 laps remaining. The No. 02 of Austin Hill would receive the free pass as NASCAR cleaned the track. Anderson would not continue in this one.

The final caution of the race came at lap 126 over in turn one. It involved Austin Cindric and Grant Enfinger. Both drivers involved would go on and finish the event in their trucks. Wendell Chavous, who got the free pass in the second yellow of the day, received the free pass.

The Active Pest Control 200 lasted one hour, 50 minutes and 44 seconds and had six lead changes among four drivers. Christopher Bell, who won both stages of the event, went on to win the race by 0.446 seconds over Matt Crafton. The average speed was 108.477 mph.
