Chris Fontaine to Complete in his Seventh Daytona Truck Raceway Running The #47

Chris Fontaine and the Glenden Enterprises #47 NCWTS race team will be running their seventh race at Daytona International Speedway this Friday, Feb. 24 in the NextEra Energy Resources 250 at 7:30 PMET to be televised live on FS1.

In his six previous NCWTS races at the track, he has accumulated 2 top 10 finishes with a best finish of seventh in 2012.

This year, Fontaine comes to Daytona with a new Toyota Tundra truck and a new number. He has run the #47 throughout his racing career in Mini-Cups, Sportsman, Late Models, and Super Late Models, and now he will run the #47 in the NCWTS.  In previous years, he has run the #84, and last year #78 on the Glenden Enterprises truck.

“It is our first time in a truck that we haven’t raced before, and everything on it is pretty much brand new,” he said, adding,”We’re just hoping it is fast.”

On the new segmented race format for NCWTS races, and the other new rule changes in NASCAR for the 2017 season, Fontaine said,”I think it will help us, because we are not running for points, and other full-time trucks are running for points.”

“I think it will give an advantage to us,” he said.

Under the new format, the trucks will have the opportunity to pit at the end of each segment of the race. Each race will be broken up into three segments, depending on the track and length of the race.

For Daytona, stage 1 runs to lap 20, stage 2 to lap 40 and stage 3 to lap 100. Fontaine says of his goal for the race,”I want to win.”
