Lee Gains Experience in Texas Motor Speedway Debut

Driver Shane Lee and the No. 24 LeeBoy crew earned a 16th-place finish Friday night at Texas Motor Speedway in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Striping Technology 350. In his first outing at the 1.5-mile track, Lee started the 147-lap event from the 21st position. In the early stages of the race, Lee reported to the Jeff Stankiewicz-led team that he was experiencing a tight-handling chassis. Lee was in the 12th position when the caution clock expired on lap 40. Stankiewicz called Lee to pit road to receive four tires, fuel and a track bar adjustment, but overshot his pit box, returning the No. 24 LeeBoy Chevrolet to the track in the 18th position on lap 43. The North Carolina native battled into the 16th position on lap 70 but reported that he was still struggling with a tight chassis, causing him to drop to the 17th position before the caution clock expired on lap 83. Lee brought the No. 24 LeeBoy Chevrolet to pit road for four tires, fuel, and air pressure and track bar adjustments, restarting in the 17th spot. Lee held onto the 17th position until the final caution clock expired on lap 126. Stankiewicz called Lee to come to pit road one final time for four tires, fuel, and air pressure and track bar adjustments, restarting in the 17th spot on lap 129. Lee broke into the top 15 on lap 40 but was still too tight to advance, causing him to drop back into the 16th spot where he crossed the start-finish line for his Texas NCWTS debut

SHANE LEE QUOTE:
“That was a lot of fun out there tonight. I really enjoy competing in the Truck Series. The No. 24 GMS Racing crew built a fast Chevrolet but we were just struggling with tight handling all night. Jeff (Stankiewicz, crew chief) and the whole GMS crew did a great job all weekend. Thank you to GMS Racing for giving me this opportunity.”
