Gallagher Relegated to a 29th-Place Finish at Martinsville After Right Front Tire Issue

Spencer Gallagher drove the No. 23 Allegiant Travel Chevrolet Silverado to a 29th-place finish in Saturday afternoon’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) Texas Roadhouse 200 at Martinsville Speedway. Gallagher started the 200-lap event from the 17th spot and climbed through the field, reaching the 14th position when a caution occurred on lap 51. Gallagher reported to crew chief Jeff Hensley that he was tight center-exit of the corners. Hensley called for Gallagher to pit for four tires, fuel and a track bar adjustment to help loosen the tight-handling conditions with the No. 23 restarting in the 19th position on lap 58. Gallagher raced his way up to the 16th spot on lap 60 where he stayed until lap 109 when his right front tire blew, causing him to make contact with the wall in turn two. Gallagher came to pit road for four tires and repair work, returning to the field in the 30th position. The Las Vegas native made his way into the 29th spot on lap 140. Gallagher remained in the 29th position until he crossed the start-finish line 21 laps down to the leader.

SPENCER GALLAGHER QUOTE:

“Today’s end result was really disappointing. The right front tire blew and we just couldn’t recover from that. This GMS Racing crew built me one fast No. 23 machine and I can’t thank them all enough for their hard work. Congrats to my teammate Johnny Sauter for bringing home GMS’ fifth win today and clinching his spot in the championship four.”
