On to the Next Round for Kennedy After Talladega Top Five

Ben Kennedy, driver of the No. 33 Jacob Companies Chevrolet, earned a fifth-place finish in the fred’s 250 at Talladega Superspeedway. The top-five finish bolstered Kennedy’s run for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Championship, advancing him into the round of six.

Kennedy started from the fourth position for the 94-lap event. The Daytona Beach, Fla., native took the lead on lap 49 and stayed at the point for eight laps. Kennedy relayed to crew chief Joey Cohen that his truck handled well but got slightly loose when side by side in the draft. On lap 64, Kennedy came to pit road for two tires, fuel and a tear off and returned to the field in the ninth position. Several trucks pitted late before returning to green, allowing Kennedy to restart from the seventh position. With less than 20 laps remaining, Kennedy ran in the fourth position behind teammates Spencer Gallagher and Grant Enfinger. As the yellow flag waved for the final time on lap 90, Kennedy lined up in the fourth position for a green-white-checkered finish. The No. 33 Jacob Companies Chevrolet crossed the start-finish line in the fifth position to secure a berth in the round of six.

BEN KENNEDY QUOTE:
“Today was a great day for our Jacob Companies team. We knew that we were going to be strong as soon as we unloaded. GMS Racing has worked so hard to get this plate racing program together and I think that showed today with all four of us at the front. I’m really glad we were able to put together a good run at a track that can be so unpredictable and secure our spot in the next round of The Chase.”
