Daniel Hemric – Talladega Superspeedway Recap 2016

Daniel Hemric (@DanielHemric) and the No. 19 Reese Farm & Ranch/Tractor Supply Company Ford F-150 team showed dogged determination in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) Chase elimination race at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway. Hemric and his team were determined to make it to Victory Lane and secure a spot in the Round of 6. He and his Brad Keselowski Racing crew overcame repeated setbacks to salvage an 11th-place lead lap finish.

Taking the green flag from the 17th position, Hemric was surrounded by teammates Tyler Reddick and Austin Cindric, all ready to fight their way to the front. When the first caution flag of the day waved on lap 15, Hemric and his BKR teammates opted not to pit and lined up in the top-three positions when racing went green on lap 20.

Restarting third, Hemric worked with Reddick to take over the second position. They ran 1-2 nearly the entire run, which ended on lap 37 with a caution. Taking the opportunity to visit pit road, Hemric pulled in for right-side tires and fuel and he returned to the racing surface in the seventh position.

Green-flag racing resumed on lap 40, and on lap 44, adversity struck the No. 19 truck for the first time. When trucks in front of him spun and crashed, Hemric was unable to avoid the melee, damaging his left-front splitter. The Brad Keselowski Racing team efficiently repaired the damage but returned to the racetrack one lap down.

Running in the free pass position when the next caution flag was displayed, Hemric was awarded his lap back, restarting 29th on lap 57.

Back in the hunt for the win, Hemric once again encountered a setback, getting swept up in “The Big One” on lap 61. Despite major damage to the back of the truck, the team hurriedly made repairs and remained on the lead lap. However, the No. 19 Reese Farm & Ranch Ford F-150 was no longer as stable as it was earlier in the race, and Hemric spun on lap 84, sustaining more damage.

The No. 19 crew patched up their truck once again, and Hemric was scored 13th and on the lead lap when the race went green on lap 88. Hemric gained two more spots in the closing laps, crossing the finish line in the 11th position. He is currently scored seventh in the NCWTS point standings, officially eliminating him from the NCWTS Chase.
