Penalty Report – New Hampshire & Kentucky

A total of six NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers received penalties during the weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Regan Smith’s team (No. 7 Chevrolet) was given a written warning for failing two attempts at both pre-race and pre-qualifying laser inspection. Kevin Harvick (No. 4 Chevrolet), Kasey Kahne (No. 5 Chevrolet), Greg Biffle (No. 16 Ford) and Matt DiBenedetto (No. 83 Toyota) were also given written warnings for failing pre-qualiying LIS twice. Denny Hamlin (No. 11 Toyota) was also given a written warning for failing two attempts at pre-qualifying template inspection.

On the NASCAR XFINITY side of things, both Matt Tifft (No. 18 Toyota) and Jeremy Clements (No. 51 Chevrolet) failed LIS before the VisitMyrtleBeach.com 300 at Kentucky Speedway. They were given written warnings.

The biggest infractions were handed out to two NASCAR Camping World Truck Series drivers during the UNOH 175 at NHMS. John Hunter Nemechek (No. 8 Chevrolet) was given a P2 penalty for post-race height measurements being outside tolerances allowed in NASCAR. As a result, crew chief Gere Kennon has been fined $6000 and placed on NASCAR probation. The team owner and driver also will lose 10 championship points.

Travis Kvapil (No. 50 Chevrolet) failed four attempts of template inspection and along with a written warning, will sit out for 15 minutes of practice at Las Vegas.
