Daniel Hemric New Hampshire 2016 Recap

A cut tire had devastating consequences for Daniel Hemric (@DanielHemric) and the No. 19 Blue Gate Bank team at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. 
 
Hemric was running in the top 15 and was hoping to have a solid day in the first race of the inaugural NASAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) Chase when a flat tire just 26 laps into the event caused major damage and required a trip to the garage, relegating the team to a 28th-place finish.
 
After Hemric took the green flag from the 13th position, two back-to-back cautions in the opening laps of the race made it difficult for him to assess the handling of his No. 19 Blue Gate Bank Ford F-150. Hemric had worked his way up to the 11th position when the race went green for the third time on lap 17, and he relayed to crew chief Chad Kendrick that he couldn’t get into the corners as hard as he needed to. With that information, team began to strategize the changes they would make during their first opportunity to visit pit road. 
 
Unfortunately, on lap 26, Hemric keyed up the radio to report that he had a tire that had gone flat, which resulted in him spinning out in Turn 1. Hemric avoided making any contact or damage, but his left-rear tire was destroyed as he limped to pit road, causing a small fire in the wheel well and resulting in major damage to the Blue Gate Bank machine. 
 
Hemric was forced to visit the garage so the team could repair a brake cooler line and replace the left-rear caliper. Returning to the racetrack 33 laps down and in the 30th position, Hemric was able to pick up two more positions before retiring to the garage in the 28th spot.
