NCWTS: William Byron Dominates UNOH 175 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway

William Byron dominated the afternoon on Saturday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway to capture his sixth win of the season. Byron, who started the 175-lap event on the pole, led two different times for 161 total laps of the race. Byron was king of restarts all afternoon long.

“Yeah, we got redemption from last week. Just can’t thank these KBM (Kyle Busch Motorsports) guys enough,” said Byron after the race. “Everybody on this Liberty University Tundra is doing a great job all season and to get a win now when it counts in the Chase feels so good and I was so down on myself last week making that mistake, so to come back and get this win is really, really good for our team.”

The win will automatically advance Byron into the next round of the Camping World Truck Series Chase. Byron is one of the favorites going into the first ever Camping World Truck Series Chase as he scored five victories in the regular season.

“Well, we just try and win,” Byron added. “I mean, we just go out there and compete like we don’t have a win, so that’s our objective and we want to keep the momentum going throughout this Chase so we can make it to Homestead. That’s the ultimate goal.”

The North Carolina native holds nine top five and 11 top 10 finishes in 2016 through 17 events. Today, believe it or not, was Byron’s first career start on the pole in the series.

Christopher Bell will leave New Hampshire Motor Speedway in the runner-up spot. Bell’s second-place finish gives Kyle Busch Motorsports a 1-2 finish leaving the 1.058-mile oval. Bell started the afternoon in third and led 11 total laps in his No. 4 SiriusXM Toyota.

The Oklahoma native will go into Las Vegas Motor Speedway next weekend with seven top five and 11 top 10 finishes. His last victory came earlier this year at Gateway Motorsports Park.

Matt Crafton will round out the top three finishers of the event in the No. 88 Menards Toyota Tundra. Crafton started the day in seventh and stayed inside the top 10 for majority of the event. The Camping World Truck series veteran and two-time champion holds two victories, five top five and 11 top 10 finishes this year.

John Hunter Nemechek had an up and down day in his No. 8 Fire Alarm Services Inc. Chevrolet. Nemechek started 15th and had problems early on after bringing out the caution on lap 51. Nemechek would able to continue on with his day and finish ninth.

Daniel Hemric would have a difficult day in his No. 19 Ford for Brad Keselowski Racing. Hemric spun over in turn one that brought out the third caution of the day. He would suffer a mechanical issue on the left rear tire that caused a little fire. That fire was due to a broken break line that would later on end the team’s day. He will leave New Hampshire with a 28th place finish.

The Camping World Truck Series will head out west to Las Vegas Motor Speedway next Saturday. Coverage will begin at 8:30 p.m. ET. on FOX Sports 1. The Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM Channel 90 will have the radio call.
