Moffitt Finishes 16th After Tough Day at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park

Brett Moffitt recorded a 16th-place finish at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park on Sunday. Moffitt posted the 11th and third-fastest times respectively in two practice sessions on Saturday morning. In two rounds of knockout group qualifying, Moffitt transferred to the final round to earn the sixth starting position for the 64-lap event in the No. 11 Sportsnet Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling Toyota Tundra. After the green flag flew under gorgeous sunny skies, Moffitt fell back slightly, but continued to run in the top-10. The first caution flew on lap 9, and crew chief Scott Zipadelli brought Moffitt to pit road for four Goodyear tires and a full tank of Sunoco fuel. Some trucks stayed out or got only two tires, so Moffitt restarted in the 15th position, but he was soon back in the top-10. Under caution on lap 25, Moffitt reported that his Tundra was tight almost everywhere on the 2.5-mile road course. With 30 laps to go, Zipadelli called Moffitt to pit road for four more tires and fuel under green flag conditions. The Iowa native worked his way back into the top-10, but was involved in an incident with another competitor on lap 54 and sustained damage. Moffitt made two stops for the No. 11 team to repair the damage and change four tires, With nine laps to go, Moffitt restarted in 24th and with the help of two laps of overtime, made his way to the 16th position to take the checkered flag.

Brett Moffitt Quote:
“I’m grateful for the opportunity that Tom DeLoach and Red Horse Racing have given me over the last month in this No. 11 Toyota Tundra. I wish we could have capitalized more on the fast truck we had today, but we were caught up in a few things and just ran out of time to make up spots.”
