NCWTS: Careers for Veterans 200 Presented by Cooper Standard Race Preview

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will head to Michigan International Speedway for Saturday’s Career’s for Veterans 200 presented by Cooper Standard Ford. The race will mark the 14th event of the season for the racing series. Kyle Busch, who is not entered in Saturday’s event, enters the weekend as the defending race winner.

The Camping World Truck Series entry list features 31 entries. Some of those drivers include Tyler Young, Ryan Ellis, Todd Peck, Caleb Roark, Austin Wayne Self, Grant Enfinger, Tommy Joe Martins, Reed Sorenson, Cody Coughlin, Norm Benning, Enrique Contreras and Ryan Truex. No drivers will go home as there are only 31 on the official entry list.

Ben Kennedy enters the weekend with momentum after scoring the win last Wednesday evening at Bristol Motor Speedway. Kennedy led 20 of the 200 laps to capture his first career NASCAR national series win after starting in 13th.

“The last few days have been so overwhelming, in a good way,” said Kennedy in a team release. “There’s a certain confidence that a win brings to a team. We knew we had a good group of guys and good equipment, but until you get that type of finish it’s definitely something you think about constantly. Now we just need to follow up with three solid finishes and get ready for the Chase.”

The 24-year old driver enters the weekend with two top five and six top 10 finishes through 13 races in 2016.

Brett Moffitt battled Kennedy for the lead in the closing laps last week at the 0.533-mile Bristol Motor Speedway. Moffitt scored his best finish in the series with the second-place finish. His previous best came in his last outing at Pocono Raceway where he finished third.

“I can’t wait to get to Michigan (International Speedway) and see what we can do this weekend,” said Kennedy. “We’re taking the same Tundra that we had at Kentucky (Speedway) and this team has momentum on their side with a fourth at Eldora (Speedway), a third at Pocono (Raceway) and a second-place finish at Bristol (Motor Speedway). This truck was fast at Kentucky until we had some motor problems, and Scott (Zipadelli, crew chief) and the guys have worked on it some more since then, so I’m excited for this weekend.”

The Iowa native holds two top five and two top 10 finishes through only five Camping World Truck Series starts.

Ryan Truex will return to the Camping World Truck Series scene this weekend behind the wheel of the No. 81 Hino Motors Manufacturing Toyota Tundra. The young driver will make his eighth appearance in the series this season.

Truex, brother of Sprint Cup Series driver Martin Truex Jr., last ran at Gateway Motorsports Park just outside of St. Louis back in June. He started sixth and would finish 26th. His best finish of the year came in the season opener at Daytona in the runner-up spot.

He was scheduled to compete at Iowa Speedway on June 18 but withdrew from the race.

The Careers for Veterans 200 presented by Cooper Standard on Saturday will air live on FOX Sports 1 at 1:00 p.m. ET. The Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM Channel 90 will have live radio coverage.
