Timothy Peters Finishes 27th at Eldora Speedway

Timothy Peters recorded a 27th-place finish in the Aspen Dental Dirt Derby at Eldora Speedway. The No. 17 team unloaded the red and white Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra for two practices on Tuesday afternoon and recorded the 17th-fastest speed in the first and the 13th-fastest speed in the second practice. On Wednesday afternoon, Peters was 34th fastest after single truck time trials, lining up in seventh place for his qualifying race. Peters finished his qualifying race in fourth, earning the 19th starting spot for the Aspen Dental Dirt Derby. The 150-lap race was divided into three segments of 40, 50 and 60 laps. As the race started on the half-mile clay oval, Peters fell back to 22nd, fighting the handling in his Toyota Tundra. Under the first caution flag, Peters came to the attention of crew chief Shane Huffman twice to improve the handling. On lap 39, Peters was involved in an incident and made contact with another vehicle, resulting in damage to the the right front corner of the No. 17, including a flat right front tire. The team diagnosed a broken tie rod and went to the garage to make repairs. On lap 69, Peters returned to the track 32 laps down in 28th place. As other vehicles were involved in incidents, Peters gained one position to finish 27th.

Timothy Peters Quote:
“It was a tough night all around, but it was great to see all the fans that came out. There’s always a great turnout at Eldora (Speedway). I wish we could have been up at the front racing for the win, but we unfortunately ended up back in the pack and got caught up in an incident that put us laps down. It wasn’t the result we wanted, but we’ll work on it and I’m looking forward to getting back on asphalt next week at Pocono (Raceway).”
