NCWTS: Backup Truck for Rico Abreu

Rico Abreu made some contact with the outside wall during the first practice session of the morning at Gateway Motorsports Park. Abreu, making his first start at the 1.25-mile oval, finished the practice session 16th.

The No. 98 Safelite Auto Glass/Curb Records Toyota got loose at the exit of turn two and sent Abreu into the outside wall. The end result was a damaged right front fender and scrapes along the ThorSport Racing machine.

The team has elected to switch over to their backup truck for the Drivin for Linemen 200 on Saturday. The truck is the same one used in last weekend’s race at Iowa Speedway where they finished 18th.

Ben Rhodes ended both practice sessions as the fastest driver on Saturday morning. William Byron, Cole Custer, Ryan Truex and Johnny Sauter rounded out the top five in practice one. Johnny Sauter, John Hunter Nemechek, German Quiroga and Ryan Truex rounded out the top five in final practice.

Qualifying will take place at 5:45 p.m. ET. on FOX Sports 1. No drivers will go home as 32 appeared on the weekend entry list.
