Nothing better than pick-up trucks in Texas for Starr

Sometimes a little home cooking can make things better. No one could use a change of fortune more than Texas native David Starr who can’t wait for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series to make its second visit to the Lone Star state in 2011. Starr hopes the trip back home can propel him to a strong finish to the 2011 NCWTS season.

“It’s always great to come back home to Texas to race, it’s really a fun weekend when all three NASCAR Series are racing here,” said Starr. “I’m really excited that we get to start the weekend with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race under the lights on Friday night.”

Once again the Build Your Future Campaign will join Zachry on the SS Green Light Racing No. 81 Toyota. This week they will be joined by the Boot Campaign on Starr’s hometown ride. As part of Careers in Construction week David will make a special appearance at the Build Your Future construction career day in Dallas on Wednesday.

“We have a lot of great partners with our SS Green Light Racing team and several of them are based here in Texas which makes it special for me. We’re excited to have Zachry onboard; they’re a San Antonio based company here in Texas,” he continued. “To have the Build Your Future Campaign back with us s a big honor, they are giving lots of youth opportunities to learn about the construction industry and we are going to have a bunch of those kids out at the racetrack this week, it will be very exciting for them. We also have the Boot Campaign back with us and it’s an honor to represent everything that charity stands for.”

“I’m just excited to come back home here to race, last week at Martinsville we had a great truck and we were going to have a great finish and it’s just unfortunate we had a little mishap right at the end of the race and we didn’t get the finish we thought we should have gotten, but we ran strong and I feel we have some momentum on our side. Coming from Las Vegas which was the last mile and a half we raced at, our Zachry Toyota Tundra was pretty awesome that day and it performed really good and we are looking forward to keep that momentum going good and hopefully we can get this big old gorilla off our back and put our Zachry Toyota Tundra up near the front when this race ends.”

“I’m just excited to be back home and looking forward to a great race.”

David has 26 starts at the Texas Motor Speedway, the most of any track over his 14-year NCWTS career. He has seven top-fives and eleven top-tens including a disappointing 30th place finish in the spring following contact with another truck. He has with an average start of 13.4 and an average finish of 13.7 at his home track.

“You know, there is nothing better than racing pick-up trucks in the great state of Texas since they are the prominent vehicle here in our state. It’s kind of fitting to fill the Texas Motor Speedway with trucks.”

Starr is currently thirteenth in the NCWTS standings with just two races remaining in 2011.

The Winstar World Casino 350k is the 269th consecutive NCWTS start for the SS Green Light Racing team and the 289th career start for Starr in the Truck Series. David has four victories, 47 top-fives and 115 top-tens through his 14-year career including two top-fives and eight top-tens so far in 2011.

There are 38 trucks on the preliminary entry list for the Winstar World Casino 350k.
