The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series heads to the state of North Carolina for the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The event will mark the sixth race of the year for the Camping World Truck Series. Kasey Kahne, who is not featured on the entry list this time around, is the defending race winner.
A total of 36 drivers are featured on the entry list. Some of these include Andy Seuss, Austin Theriault, Garrett Smithley, Kyle Busch, Austin Hill, Austin Wayne Self, Jesse Little, Daniel Suarez and Caleb Holman. Four drivers will go home as 36 are featured on the entry list.
Daniel Suarez will join the Camping World Truck Series fold once again at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Suarez will pilot the No. 51 Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota with ARRIS on the side of his machine in his fifth race of the year. The native of Mexico scored a runner-up finish last weekend at Dover and continues to seek his first career NASCAR national series win.
Suarez is looking forward to Charlotte this weekend.
“I’m looking forward to racing at home, here in Charlotte, and getting back behind the wheel of my ARRIS Tundra again on Friday night,” said Suarez in a release. “We were so close to getting the win last weekend in Dover, and I’m glad I don’t have to wait long to get back on the track. Kyle (Busch), Bono (Manion) and all the guys at KBM have worked extremely hard to get our ARRIS Tundra where it needs to be, and it’s just really fun to go out and drive these trucks when I get the opportunity. The truck race at Charlotte is one of the best races of the year, and I’m looking forward to an exciting night of racing on Friday and hopefully coming away with a win!”
Matt Crafton added his name to the win column in 2016 last weekend after taming Miles the Monster at Dover International Speedway. Crafton entered Dover fifth in the Camping World Truck Series driver standings and badly needed a win as points will not be enough to get drivers into the Camping World Truck Series Chase system.
Charlotte is a special place for Crafton because it’s the site of his first career Camping World Truck Series win.
“Charlotte is a multi-groove track. Even though it has fairly new asphalt, you can move around quite a bit, and that’s what makes it so much fun. The track always puts on a great show for the fans. It’s always fun for me to go back there, because it’s the place where I got my first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victory.”
Crafton will look to become the first repeat winner of 2016 at Charlotte on Friday evening.
Jesse Little will make his first start of the season in the Camping World Truck Series with Rette Jones Motorsports. Little made four starts last season with his best finish of 14th coming in the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
“I’m ready to get back in the truck, I’m really excited,” said Little in a release, who will drive the No. 30 The Carolina Nut Co. Toyota Tundra in the sixth race of the season. “Everyone at Rette Jones Racing has been working extremely hard to get this truck ready and we can’t thank the crew over at ThorSport Racing for their support. We know without them; this race wouldn’t be possible.”
The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race will be live on FOX Sports 1, Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR channel 90 on Friday, May 20 at 8:30 p.m. ET.
