Kligerman, RBR looking to get off the schneid at Charlotte

After two rough outings, Parker Kligerman and the Ricky Benton Racing (RBR) Enterprises BTS Tire and Wheel Distributors/Advance Auto Parts/Solid Rock Carriers NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) team are heading home for the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 at Charlotte Motor Speedway looking to rekindle some of their early season magic.

On the back of three straight top-10 finishes to start 2016, bad luck has struck the team as of late. A hard crash at Kansas led to a 31st-place finish and a rear gear issue at Dover relegated Kligerman to 27th in the final running order.

“it has been a tough two weeks for everyone on the No. 92 truck,” said Kligerman. “We had a solid truck this weekend (at Dover) but just didn’t get a chance to show it. We had a rear seal failure that was dumping oil all over the rear tires.

“Even with that, we managed to stay on the lead lap until it ran out of fluid. When that happened, we had to retire for the day.”

Despite their recent setbacks, Kligerman is confident in his, and his team’s, chances at Charlotte.

“What better place to turn it back around than Charlotte?,” Kligerman asked. “We have been fast at the 1.5-mile tracks this year. We had speed at Atlanta (where he finished eighth) and had speed at Kansas before getting wrecked.”

Kligerman appreciates the effort that his team has put in to get him to the track for three straight weeks despite the adversity of the last two races.

“I really can’t say enough about the guys on this team and all they have done to get some really stout trucks ready to go to the racetrack each week,” he said. “This week is no different. (Crew chief) Mike (Hester) and Mikey (Hammond, the team’s other full-time employee) have worked their butts off to get the truck turned around from Dover to get it ready for Charlotte.”

The team had planned on running the truck from Kansas, but had to change direction after the wreck that made the truck a total loss.

“For a team our size, that put a lot of extra pressure on us,” Hester said, “but we have had some good runs at Charlotte in the past and have this one where we want it to go to the track this week.”
