Kligerman, RBR look for continued success at Martinsville

On the back of third- and eighth-place finishes in the first two events of the young NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) season, Parker Kligerman and the Ricky Benton Racing (RBR) Enterprises team are heading to Martinsville Speedway for the Alpha Energy Solutions 250 as the series’ points leader.

With the series being on hiatus for more than a month, RBR has had more time to prep their No. 92 Solid Rock Carriers/Valvoline/Advance Auto Parts/BTS Tire and Wheel Distributors/Goodyear Commercial Tire Network Ford F-150 for the first short-track stop of the year. It has also given them a few extra weeks to enjoy sitting atop the points standings.

“As a racer, you want to be at the track every week,” said Kligerman. “But for us, as a small team, this extra time off has given (crew chief) Mike (Hester), (truck chief) Bobby (Gill), Mikey (Hammond) and the rest of the Black’s Tire guys a larger window to get our Martinsville truck better and faster.

“The break has also been nice for our sponsors Advance Auto Parts, Valvoline and BTS to get the attention and recognition they deserve for what they have done to be a part of this team.”

As for getting back on the track at Martinsville, Kligerman believes racing on NASCAR’s oldest and shortest track helps level the field for some of the NCWTS’s smaller teams.

“Martinsville is an equalizer for teams like ours,” he said. “Aero is much less important and you put the race in the driver’s hands.

“It is a fun place to race. Tire management is so important, you get to brake hard and roll through the corners. It is also a place where qualifying doesn’t always translate to the race. If you manage your tires properly, you can race to the front from wherever you start.”

Martinsville F-150
The RBR Enterprises Ford F-150 the team will be taking to Martinsville Speedway for the Alpha Energy Solutions 250 is T-5. The truck was last on track at Bristol last August. T-5 saw action at Martinsville in the fall of 2014.

La Grange N.C.’s Solid Rock Carriers will serve as the primary sponsor for the No. 92 for the Alpha Energy Solutions 250. Valvoline and Advance Auto Parts return as associate sponsors along with mainstays BTS Tire and Wheel Distributors and Goodyear Commercial Tire Network.
