Lofton, ESR Hope to Return to ‘Dega Dominance This Weekend

Last race review: Justin Lofton and the No. 6 CollegeComplete.com Eddie Sharp Racing (ESR) team started the last event in Las Vegas from the 14th position before ending the day 19th. Lofton maneuvered his way into the top-10 less than 20 laps into the event, where he raced for majority of the day. Following a caution flag on lap 121, Lofton showed in the fifth position. Laps later however, his Chevrolet broke loose, hitting the wall, forcing his charge to an abrupt end. Despite the accident, Lofton and the Dan Bormann led CollegeComplete.com ESR team ended the day in 19th.

Lofton at Talladega: Last season, Lofton’s run at Talladega ended early after being involved in a wreck. But in 2009, he walked away with the win within the ARCA Racing Series at the 2.66-mile track while driving for team owner Eddie Sharp. That day, Lofton led the way for 46 of the event’s 97 laps.

Truck information: Lofton will race chassis 007 this weekend in Talladega. The truck was raced earlier this year out of the ESR stable at Daytona, scoring a 16th place finish. The team recently converted the truck into a Chevrolet.

Lofton on Talladega: “I feel that we’ll be very competitive at Talladega in the CollegeComplete.com Chevrolet. Dan and all of the guys on the team have been doing a great job. We just need to get to the finish line, but you never know what to expect on superpspeedways.”

Four more: Following Las Vegas, four races remain on the 2011 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) schedule. Lofton enters Talladega this week 14th in the driver point standings, just 76 points out of the top-10. Over the last four events, Lofton has picked up three positions in the points, in addition to securing a season-high qualifying effort of fifth and three top-15 runs. Car owner Eddie Sharp shows 17th in the owner point standings.
