Timothy Peters Records Third-Place Finish at Atlanta
his first top-five finish of 2016 with a third-place result at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Peters was 15th, 16th and 12th fastest in three practice sessions on Friday. On Saturday morning, he earned the 12th starting spot after transferring to the final round of knockout qualifying. The green flag flew on Saturday afternoon for 130 laps at the 1.5-mile facility and Peters fell back in the red and white Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra. Fighting a tight condition in the afternoon sun, Peters eventually moved into the top 10 on lap 27. Under the first caution, brought out by the 20-minute caution clock on lap 39, Peters visited pit road and crew chief Shane Huffman for a quick pit stop for four Goodyear tires and Sunoco fuel. The No. 17 team gained five positions, entering pit road in ninth and exiting in fourth. Peters continued to fight a tight handling condition and visited pit road a second time for four tires and fuel under caution on lap 62. On lap 96, Peters experienced a vibration and was forced to come to pit road for another four-tire stop under a green flag, putting him a lap down. A caution flew a few laps later, allowing Peters to return to the lead lap as the "Lucky Dog" beneficiary and he was able to pit for four tires again. Peters restarted in 17th position with 18 laps to go, and worked his way through several late race cautions to a third-place finishing position.

Timothy Peters Quote:
"We think we had a Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra that could win this race. We were able to catch the vibration with our right front cording on us. Had to come down to pit road. Shane (Huffman, crew chief) made great calls. The pit crew did an awesome job not only getting me back out to where we were only one lap down, but all race long they gained us spots, gained us spots, gained us spots. For the laps on our tires and to fight back through adversity, I'll take it."
