Daniel Hemric Daytona International Speedway Recap

Daniel Hemric (@DanielHemric) rallied back from an 18th-place starting position and damage sustained in a late-race wreck to earn a top-10 finish in his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race behind the wheel of a Brad Keselowski Racing truck.

Hemric remained patient throughout the 100-lap event and navigated his way through multiple large wrecks, bringing his Draw-Tite Ford F-150 home in the eighth position at Daytona (Fla.)  International Speedway.

Taking the green flag from the 18th position, Hemric had worked his way into the top 15 by the time the first caution flag of the night waved on lap six. When another yellow flag quickly followed on lap 13, crew chief Chad Kendrick called his driver down pit road for a fuel-only pit stop followed by a fuel top off three laps later.

With other trucks opting to stay out, Hemric returned to the racetrack in the 30th position. Utilizing strategy with the debut of the NCWTS caution clock, the Draw-Tite team visited pit road just moments before the scheduled yellow flag.

Fortunately, right after Hemric’s fuel-only pit stop, a wreck caused by others following suit brought out the yellow prematurely, putting the No. 19 in the second position before green flag racing resumed on lap 49.

Running in the ninth position when the caution waved for debris on lap 67, Hemric reported that his Ford F-150 had gotten tighter over the preceding run. Visiting pit road for right-side tires and fuel, Hemric was scored in the 15th position when the trucks took the green flag.

On lap 92, Hemric was running in the 19th position when an 18-truck accident claimed much of the field. Hemric avoided the initial melee but made contact with another truck as it slid up the racetrack, causing moderate damage to the rear of the truck.

Following an extended red flag and two rounds of repairs, Hemric took the green flag from the 14th position with only two laps of regulation racing remaining. The 25-year-old avoided another multi-truck accident in the final lap, crossing the finish line in the eighth position under caution.
