Dakoda Armstrong and Drive For Savings to Visit National FFA Convention

Hailing from a family farming operation in Indiana, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Dakoda Armstrong participated in his local FFA chapter during high school. Now, the 20-year-old driver will re-visit his roots with Drive For Savings at the 84th National FFA Convention at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 18th, 2011.

Armstrong will be visiting the Drive For Savings booth during the opening day of events at the 84th National FFA Convention on Wednesday, October 18th from 1 to 5 pm. He will be on hand to sign autographs and greet fans next at the Drive For Savings (DFS) display. The area will contain Armstrong’s No. 98 Ferrellgas/Agrisure/Drive For Savings Chevrolet, as well as information about the DFS discount card program that benefits organizations like FFA.

Held each October, the national FFA convention is one of the largest annual student conventions in the country, providing educational sessions, hands-on activities, leadership workshops, information about numerous careers and much more. The national FFA convention dates back to 1928 and features an agricultural career show featuring over 194,000 square feet of exhibitors.  Last year, more than 55,000 FFA members, advisors and supporters filled Indianapolis’ Conseco Fieldhouse, Lucas Oil Stadium, the Indiana State Fairgrounds and Indiana Convention Center for various events.

Drive For Savings, sponsor of Dakoda Armstrong and his No. 98 ThorSport Racing team in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS), will participate in AutoWorld, an area of the convention career show originated to give students a path who are seeking careers in the automotive, motorsport, and racing industries. AutoWorld spans over an 8,000 square foot section of the show and displays automotive, racing, motorsports and classic industries, combined with technical schools and colleges involved in these respected categories.

Drive For Savings creates innovative fundraising programs that are designed to meet the specific needs of any organization through the sale of discount cards. DFS cards are linked to a nationwide discount program that offers discounts at over 260,000 locations and are sold for $25 each. Each card sale earns money for the specific organization that sells it. The goal of DFS is to help organizations succeed by earning necessary funds and will increase revenue without adding labor. Each program is 100% designed, managed and tracked by the DFS staff.

“National FFA Convention was something that I looked forward to all year when I was a member of the FFA. I’m excited to be going back to see all of those blue corduroy jackets,” Co-Founder and CFO of Drive For Savings Casey Kemerly exclaimed. “We created Drive For Savings as a portal of raising money for organizations like the FFA. When I was a member of FFA, the organization made me the business man I have become today. They teach leadership and teamwork, and we really wanted to give back to them.”

“We’re really looking forward to spending the week in Indianapolis in our booth at that National FFA Convention. We hope that FFA members and advisors will be able to get information about our company, and that they will be able to utilize us as their premier fundraiser.”

Armstrong Farms, an 8,000-acre farm Dakoda’s family owns and operates in New Castle, Indiana, yields yellow No. 2 corn raised for the production of ethanol. Very involved in the farming community, the Armstrong family looks forward to any opportunity to give back and help educate the public about their operations and all the agricultural industry has to offer.

“I am ready to be back in my home state for the National FFA Convention with Drive For Savings. I remember that the National FFA Convention was a thing that all the FFA members in my high school looked forward to attending, but because I was always racing so I could never go with them. I’m anxious to see just what goes on during the convention,” Armstrong explained.

“There’s a significant bond between NASCAR and agriculture that I don’t think many people realize, but we’re more than happy to help show the role the agricultural industry plays in our sport, especially with the introduction of the Sunoco Green E15 ethanol fuel we now use in our race trucks.”
