David Levine and Lira Motorsports Set For Truck Series Debut In South Florida

The Ford EcoBoost 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway will be the debut race for Lira Motorsports and driver David Levine in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Both driver and team enter the race fresh off their first full season of ARCA Racing Series competition.

Levine, a 22-year old racer originally from Highland Park, Illinois, comes from a sports car racing background. He competed in IMSA and SCCA competition for several years before running the full ARCA Racing Series schedule this year. He finished the ARCA season 5th in the overall driver points standings, collecting 11 top ten finishes, as well as three Hard Charger Awards and two Rookie of the Race Awards. He was the highest finishing rookie in the points standings. His best finish came at Kentucky Speedway in September, where he crossed the line in third.

“I’m really excited to be racing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for the first time,” Levine recently commented. “The opportunity to move up to the Trucks with my Lira Motorsports crew, led by Crew Chief Sam Schram, is a dream come true for me. We came a long way together in the ARCA Series this year. Our goal at Homestead is to learn as much as we can in the 2.5 hour practice session, then see what we can do to get a good finish with our No. 59 Momo / TraqGear / Ford Performance / Roux Helmets / Furman University Ford F-150 on Friday night.”

Operating from their Mooresville, NC race shop, the Lira Motorsorts team fielded two to four cars in each race throughout the 2015 ARCA Racing Series season. The team collected a total of 22 top ten finishes including two race victories. Their drivers also captured a total of six Hard Charger Awards and three Rookie of the Race Awards.

The team will be fielding two trucks at Homestead, with the second truck being driven by David’s rival for the ARCA Racing Series Rookie of the Year title, Kyle Weatherman. Levine held the ARCA Scott Rookie Challenge points lead for the majority of the 2015 season. Weatherman took over the Rookie points lead by two points in race 19 of 20 at Kentucky, then held off Levine in the season finale at Kansas to claim the title.

Levine’s sponsors for Homestead are Furman University, MOMO, Roush Yates Engines, Yones Productions, TraqGear and Roux Helmets. David is a 2015 graduate of Furman, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications Studies.

The green flag for the Ford EcoBoost 200 is scheduled for Friday, November 20th at 8:00pm. The race will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1.
