NCWTS: Timothy Peters Victorious at Talladega Superspeedway

Timothy Peters wheeled his No. 17 Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra to victory lane on Saturday afternoon at the Talladega Superspeedway. Peters started the afternoon on the pole and led 23 laps for a total of five different times. The 34-year old North Carolina native captured his ninth career Camping World Truck Series victory.

NASCAR would use the new green-white-checker rule after reducing the number of attempts at the Talladega Superspeedway due to safety concerns. The race was sent into overtime after a number of trucks wrecked on the backstretch with two laps remaining in regulation. The race would later end after Spencer Gallagher and John Wes Townley tangled just before the field received the white flag on lap 97.

Brandon Jones will drive away with the runner-up finish in his No. 33 Chevrolet. Jones moved upfront after Christopher Bell got blacked-flagged while locking bumpers with Jones in the closing laps. Jones would stay upfront and tie his best career finish in the Camping World Truck Series of second.

Mason Mingus will walk away with his best career finish in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. The Tennessee native took his No. 15 Call 811 Before You Dig Chevrolet to a third-place finish. His previous best finish in the series came earlier in the year at the Kansas Speedway.

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver standings will separate even further going into Martinsville. Erik Jones held on to the fourth-place finishing position while Matt Crafton finished in 24th. Jones will leave the 2.66-mile oval with an 18-point lead ahead of Tyler Reddick. Crafton will move back a spot in third. Johnny Sauter and Timothy Peters round out the top five.

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will now head to the Martinsville Speedway. Coverage of the Kroger 250 will begin at 1:30 p.m. ET. on FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports Go. The Motor Racing Network will carry the live radio broadcast.
