Kennedy Ties Career-Best NCWTS Finish with Third-Place Result at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park

As the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series traveled north of the border this week, Ben Kennedy and the No. 11 Local Motors team unloaded a fast Toyota Tundra off the truck at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. The Daytona Beach, Florida native was fourth and fifth-fastest in Saturday morning’s two practice sessions at the 2.46-mile road course. Later that afternoon, Kennedy easily advanced to the second and final round of knockout qualifying to earn the sixth starting position. After the green flag flew to start the 64-lap event on Sunday afternoon, Kennedy quickly drove into the top five of the running order. Running some of the fastest laps on the track, he reported that he was very happy with the balance of the black and white machine. The Local Motors team quickly changed four tires and packed the Tundra with a full tank of Sunoco fuel during two green-flag pit stops. Kennedy overtook the third position on lap 40 and briefly fell to fourth following a lap-48 restart. A full-course caution was displayed on lap 59, and after restarting third, Kennedy again fell to fourth and regained the third position in the final turns to take the checkered flag. His third-place result ties his NCWTS career-best finishes at Martinsville Speedway (March 2014) and Atlanta (2015).

Ben Kennedy Quote:
“I had a ton of fun here at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park this weekend. The Local Motors team did an awesome job and I’m really happy for us to rebound like this after the season we’ve had so far. We struggled a little bit on the restarts in Turn 1. That outside line was definitely the preferred line. If you got your nose up there, you could carry it through Turn 2 and usually clear them. We’re really happy to bring the Local Motors Tundra home third. This is awesome for our team. It’s a big momentum shift for us and hopefully we can carry it on to Chicagoland (Speedway).”
