Hemric Extends Hot Streak, Finishes Fourth at Canada Road Course

Daniel Hemric continued his impressive rookie season, tackling yet another new challenge in his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) road course, earning his second consecutive top-five finish and fifth finish of ninth or better in the last five events. Hemric and his NTS Motorsports team were persistent in their efforts, overcoming a 13th-place qualifying position and challenging road-course ringers to finish fourth in the Chevrolet Silverado 250 at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park.

Making his first laps around the 2.459-mile road course in the Canadian countryside, Hemric laid down the ninth and 11th-fastest laps in the weekend’s two practice sessions. Following a 13th-place qualifying effort, Hemric reported shortly after the green flag that his California Clean Power Chevy Silverado was free in the right-hand turns. Strategy dictated a scheduled pit stop for fuel under green on lap nine, with the NTS Motorsports team also making a quick wedge adjustment before sending Hemric back onto the track in the 13th position. When the first caution flag waved on lap 15, Hemric had advanced up to the 11th position, and he battled back and forth for the 10th spot until the team’s second pit stop on lap 36. Coming to pit road under green for four tires, fuel and an air-pressure adjustment, it took less than 10 laps for the Rookie of the Year contender to break back into the top 10 for good on lap 43. Hemric was scored in the eighth position when the field went green following a caution on lap 45, and continued his march to the front until a caution flag on lap 61 set the field up for a two-lap shootout. Hemric took the green from the sixth spot, jumping to fifth on the strength of an excellent restart. Over the course of the final lap, Hemric captured one more position, crossing the finish line fourth for the second week in a row. The finish was Hemric’s fourth top five of the season and ninth top 10 in the last 10 races.

Daniel Hemric on Canadian Tire Motorsport Park
“First and foremost, I have to thank all the fans that came out to support our series racing in this region and to NASCAR for giving us the opportunity to race at a place like Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. This track is unreal and it was a privilege to race here. I am incredibly proud of this team; we have been performing so consistently and working extremely well as a unit. These guys work their butts off and I’m fortunate to be the one holding the wheel. I’m very grateful to Bob Newberry and California Clean Power for giving me the opportunity to race in this series and perform as well as we have been. We are so close to that first win, and these guys really deserve it.”

Hemric remains fifth in the NCWTS Driver Point Standings, while Bob Newberry’s No. 14 moves up one spot to seventh in the series Owner Point Standings. The Truck Series goes on a two-week hiatus before returning to action at Chicagoland Speedway. The American Ethanol E15 225 airs live on FOX Sports 1 on Friday, September 18 at 8:30 p.m. EDT.
