Hayley claims a top-10 finish in his Michigan debut

Cameron Hayley, driver of the No. 13 Carolina Nut Co. Toyota Tundra, made his track debut in Saturday's Careers for Veterans 200 at Michigan International Speedway (MIS) in Brooklyn. Starting sixth, the Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender finished 10th, his seventh top-10 finish in 13 starts this season.
Posting the second and third-fastest times, respectively, in the two practice sessions on Friday, the ThorSport Racing driver backed up his speeds in qualifying on Saturday morning, posting the sixth-fastest time.
Hayley ran as high as fifth and as low as 15th, but maintained an average running position of 9.5 throughout the 100-lap event. Crew chief Jeff Hensley brought the No. 13 Toyota Tundra to pit road twice, at lap 26, under caution, and lap 60, under green, for four tires, fuel and adjustments to combat a tight condition on his ThorSport Racing machine.
As the race approached the half-way mark, Hayley's Tundra swung from tight to loose, enabling the Calgary, Alberta, Canada native to make-up ground to the race leaders. Scored 12th at lap 80, multiple cautions in the final 20 laps allowed theThorSport Racing driver to gain positions on the restarts and finish 10th behind race winner, Kyle Busch, in his track debut at MIS.
Following his seventh top-10 finish of the 2015 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) season, Hayley remains fifth in the driver point standings, 89 points behind leader, Tyler Reddick.
"We had a really fast Carolina Nut Co. Toyota Tundra today at Michigan. For this being my first time here, I was pretty happy with our run today. We unloaded pretty good in practice, and it showed in qualifying, but unfortunately, the handling of the truck changed on us during the race. We went from too tight to too loose. Jeff (Hensley), and the guys did what they could to help me out, and I really appreciate their efforts. I'm happy with this top-10, and I'm ready to get to Bristol in just a few days."
