Ben Kennedy Finishes 11th at Pocono Raceway

Ben Kennedy drove the No. 11 Local Motors Toyota Tundra to an 11th-place finish in the Pocono Mountains 150 at the “Tricky Triangle.” Kennedy turned in the ninth-fastest speed during the single practice session at Pocono Raceway on Friday afternoon. NASCAR Camping World Truck Series teams returned Saturday where the qualifying process was changed up at the 2.5-mile triangular race track. Kennedy turned in the 11th-fastest time during the first round of the single-lap time trials to advance to the second and final round where he earned the eighth starting position. When the green flag dropped, Kennedy raced inside the top 10, climbing as high as fifth. The Daytona Beach, Florida native battled a tight-handling condition on the exit of Turns 1 and 3. Crew chief Scott Zipadelli called for four tires, fuel, and slight air pressure and chassis adjustments during the two scheduled pit stops. Kennedy fought to hold a place in the top 10, but the scheduled 60-lap race was extended by nine laps as the field made three attempts at a green-white-checkered finish. On the third and final attempt, the field took the checkered flag with the No. 11 Local Motors machine in the 11th position.

Ben Kennedy Quote:

“We had a fast Local Motors Toyota Tundra this weekend. We just seemed to get in the wrong line on the restarts, and track position is so important at Pocono (Raceway). The guys did a solid job on pit road today, and the guys at the shop gave me a good truck. We’ll head on to Michigan (International Speedway) in a couple weeks.”
