Tyler Reddick Eldora Speedway Recap

Tyler Reddick took advantage of a late race traffic jam to claim a third place finish in the 1-800-Car-Cash Mud Summer Classic Wednesday night at Eldora (Rossburg, Ohio) Speedway.

Reddick (@tylerreddick) grabbed his seventh top five finish in 11 races and gained ground in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship standings.  Tyler remains second in the title chase but has now closed within 14 points of the leader.

Reddick kicked off the night by winning his qualifying race to earn the fifth place starting position.  Throughout the first 60 lap segment of the race, Tyler hovered around the top five.  He was running sixth when the first competition caution slowed the race on lap 60.  Crew chief Doug Randolph made the call for Reddick to pit for four tires and adjustments.  He restarted seventh when the second segment began on lap 61.

During the next 50 lap segment, Reddick consistently maintained the seventh position – no small accomplishment considering the intense four and sometimes five wide racing throughout the pack.  He lined up seventh for the final 40 lap dash to the finish.

Tyler picked off two positions on the restart on lap 111 then moved up to fourth place on lap 122.  Two laps later Reddick was third and in hot pursuit of the leaders until the 12th caution slowed the race on lap 140.  The following chaotic restart on lap 145 cost Reddick three positions, dropping him to sixth by lap 147, but he caught a break when the 13th and final yellow on lap 149 pushed the event into a green-white checkered dash to the finish.

Reddick lined up sixth for the final restart and he emerged from a four-wide scramble off Turn 2 to grab third, holding firm to the position over the final lap.
