Christopher Bell captured the win in the third annual 1-800-Car-Cash Mud Summer Classic at the Eldora Speedway on Wednesday. Bell, making his third career start in the Camping World Truck Series, led two different times for 106 laps of the event. The win did not come easy for the newly signed driver at Kyle Busch Motorsports as he had to hold off Bobby Pierce in a green-white-checker finish. The win will mark Bell’s first career NASCAR national series victory.
Bobby Pierce showed success throughout the entire day at the Eldora Speedway. Pierce led five different times for a total of 40 laps on the 0.5-mile dirt oval. MB Motorsports, which is currently the oldest running NASCAR Camping World Truck Series operation, shattered their previous high of only 12 laps led since the team’s inception. In his debut, Pierce will take home the runner-up finish by 0.762 seconds.
Tyler Reddick rounded out the top three finishers in Wednesday’s event at Eldora. Reddick, driving the No. 19 Ford for Brad Keselowski Racing, started the evening in the fifth spot. The California native came into the race sitting second in points with two victories in the first 10 races.
John Hunter Nemechek took his first shot on the Ohio dirt track. Nemechek, making his first start at Eldora, started right beside Bobby Pierce in second. The son of Joe Nemechek finished a little further back than probably planned in seventh.
Matt Crafton will continue leading the series points standings when the series heads into Pocono next weekend. Tyler Reddick sits second with a 14-point gap behind Crafton. Erik Jones, Johnny Sauter and John Wes Townley round out the top five.
Brad Keselowski turned his first laps at the Eldora Speedway on Wednesday behind the wheel of the No. 29 Ford. Keselowski more than likely did not get the result he expected as he finished in 28th. The Michigan driver took the green flag in 11th.
The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will shift their focus to the Pocono Raceway next week. Coverage of the race will be shown Saturday on FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports Go at 1:00 p.m. ET. The Motor Racing Network will carry the live radio broadcast.
