Gilliland, RBR Enterprises looking for NCWTS redemption at Kentucky

After nearly a two-month hiatus, David Gilliland and the Ricky Benton Racing (RBR) Enterprises Ford F-150 team return to NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) action Thursday in the UNOH 225 at Kentucky Speedway

Gilliland will be attempting his fourth race of the season in the BTS Tire and Wheel Distributors/Goodyear Commercial Tire & Service Network/Wynn’s Ford F-150 for the Cerro Gordo N.C.-based team. Gilliland

After a strong sixth-place run in the season opener at Daytona, mechanical failures led to 30th and 27th place finishes at Martinsville and Charlotte.

“This series owes us one right now,” Gilliland said. “We had really good trucks at Martinsville and Charlotte and got hit with some bad luck early at both.”

The RBR team will be bringing the same truck that debuted at Charlotte in May. Gilliland started 14th and worked into the top 10 before a vibration led Gilliland to bring the truck to garage 84 laps into the race.

“The truck was really good and had a lot of speed at Charlotte,” Gilliland said. “(Crew chief) Mike Hester built a good truck and we didn’t want to tear it up, so we brought it in. Despite the bad luck, we are confident in our equipment and what we can do at Kentucky.”
