Boston Barely Misses a Top 10 at Iowa

Justin Boston came to Iowa Speedway hoping to put his bad luck last week behind him. Although he did not get the finish he was hoping for, Boston did have a good run throughout the night with an 11th-place finish at the 0.875-mile track.

Boston started the 200-lap event 11th and quickly moved up through the field. He told the KBM team the ROK Mobile Tundra was tight, but it was getting better the longer he ran. Within the first 30 laps he was up to seventh place.

He ran in the top 10 nearly the entire race, and after each pit stop the Tundra would start out tight but eventually the balance would improve. Boston was ninth after his final pit stop of the race on lap 152 and was up to eighth with 35 laps to go. Unfortunately he lost some track position on the final restart on lap 165 and could never get it back since the ROK Mobile Tundra became too tight. He finished the race in 11th place.

“Tonight was disappointing,” Boston said. “I felt like we had a really good ROK Mobile Tundra in the middle part of the race there, we just didn’t have track position and it seems like we went the wrong way on it. We were just way too tight to make anything happen at the end of the race. The other guys just got a little bit faster and we didn’t get any faster. It was just one of those things that we have to build off of and go to Kentucky, and hopefully contend for a top five because we should’ve just easily ran in the top 10 tonight and it’s a shame we didn’t.”

KMB’s Erik Jones won the race, followed by Brandon Jones, Tyler Reddick, Matt Crafton and making his NCWTS debut for KBM, Christopher Bell rounded out the top five. Boston remains 12th in the driver’s championship point standings.
