Boston Hopes Dreams Continue to Come True in Iowa

In the 1989 movie “Field of Dreams,” Kevin Costner built a baseball field in the middle of a corn field. In 2005, Rusty Wallace and partners began building a race track amid the Iowa corn fields to host NASCAR races. Justin Boston hopes to fulfill a dream of his by winning his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race Friday night at Iowa Speedway.

 

Boston has four top-10 finishes in eight starts this season, with his best finish of seventh at Kansas Speedway in May. Although this will be Boston’s first start in the NCWTS at Iowa, it is not his first time at the 0.875-mile track. He competed in an ARCA Racing Series event at the Hawkeye State track in 2013, where he started ninth and finished 16th. With his prior experience at Iowa, and feedback from his KBM teammate and defending race winner, Erik Jones, Boston should be on the right track for a strong run this weekend. His crew chief, Shannon Rursch, a native of Clinton, Iowa, is also hoping for a great showing in front of his hometown crowd.

 

KBM drivers have collected one win, 191 laps led, three top-five and eight top-10 finishes resulting in an average finish of 9.3 across 12 starts at Iowa. Boston’s KBM teammate Erik Jones qualified second and led a race-high 131 laps en route to victory in last year’s 200-lap event at the Iowa track.
