Tyler Young optimistic for Gateway of possibilities

Racing to his third top-15 finish of the 2015 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) season in last Friday’s WinStar World Casino 400k at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Tyler Young, driver of the No. 02 Young’s Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado, is hoping to build off that momentum heading into Saturday’s Drivin’ for Linemen 200 at Gateway (Ill.) Motorsports Park.

Sitting 13th in the NCWTS driver point standings, Young is within striking distance of propelling himself into the top-10, with only a 16 point deficit. Completing 98.1% of the laps in his lone start at the 1.25-mile track in 2014, the Texas-native is optimistic for his return trip to the “Show-Me State.” Likewise, Young will be backed with experience from veteran crew chief Bryan Berry at Gateway Motorsports Park, whose career includes eight NCWTS starts and a track-best 10th-place finish in 2007 with Brendan Gaughan.

With characteristics similar to a short track, Young is confident in the package the Young’s Motorsports crew has prepared for him in Saturday’s 160-lap race. Bringing his Martinsville setup from earlier this year to Gateway Motorsports Park, Young is hoping to finally secure his first NCWTS career top-five finish.

Sounding Off – Tyler Young:

“Gateway is kind of like a short track in many ways. We’re actually taking the same package we had in Martinsville, to Gateway this weekend because of it. We were really good in Martinsville this year, so we have pretty high hopes headed into this weekend. Hopefully we can get another top-10 finish, or better yet, my first career top-five.”
